    AV Cable In Screed

you won't have any problems with direct burial of pvc cables as long as there is no real risk of mechanical damage or movement at any time in the future.

safety issue with marquee for Christmas do.

Put it on a 30ma rcd and you can sleep at night, make sure you have a suitably rated mcb dowstream of it though, rcd's only look at phase difference, not overload.

Part P inspection in regards to IEE 17th, regulation 526.3

If you have a concealed junction box with screwed terminals you're asking for trouble. If you absolutely need to do this with no other option, make sure your cables are at least soldered in the jb. Obviously all the normal R1 + R2, Zs readings, time to disconnect requirements apply...

Hello Guys ( n gals ) :D I've just finished installing new brick lights into a dwarf wall on my new driveway, 6 of them, 8W mini flourescents and I have a bog standard 250watt quartz halogen over the garage, presently controlled on a dawn dusk PIR. I want to wire them up on 2 zones...

Hello woodyoulike Some tme ago ( december 2005 ) I installed a solid oak plank floor in my house largely based on advice given by you. One or two of the planks in the dining room have started to 'bow' / taking on a concave shape if viewed from the end. Can you tell me if this is normal, or...

    Fitting Oak Planking onto Asphalt

Hello Sanjay Thanks for the compliment, if you need any technical advice I would rely on WoodYouLike, same as I did. If I'd have been in the same end of the country I would probably have bought all of my materials from them as well. Would I have done it any different? I would've bought a...

    Fitting Oak Planking onto Asphalt

Hello WoodYouLike Better late than never, thought you may like to know how your advice panned out. In a word. Brilliant, the floor was installed three months ago as per your advice and recommendations. I think it was worth the extra money and effort to get a solid oak plank instead of...

    Algae in water tank

No problems with the drinking water and the dark ages when the house was built was 1985. The tank already has an insulation jacket but the cover is missing, probably a bit of careless DIY by one of the previous owners of the property. Thanks for the advice everyone, much appreciated.

    Algae in water tank

Actually big square black thing, size of an arm chair, but no cover. Is that normal?, also live in the middle of a virtual forest, lots of horsechestnuts canopy the house and roof covered in moss. I think I'm getting to the obvious cause of what's happening but is there a way I can ensure it...

    Algae in water tank

I have a conventional plaumbing system in my home i.e. a water storage tank in the loft, hot water cylinder in bedroom airing cupboard. Problem I have is what appears to be small bits of algae coming out the taps in the bathroom, is this common and is there a reliable / permanent method of...

    Fitting Oak Planking onto Asphalt

I'm going to go with your recommendation and install a floating floor. Do I need any special compression/clamping tools to bring the t&g's together or will it be ok knocked in tight with a spare piece of plank and a hammer? Once again, thanks for your help, absolutely invaluable.

    Fitting Oak Planking onto Asphalt

One last piece of information. I intend to install this floor from 'front to back' on the ground floor of my house. Starts off in a small vestibule 1.5x1.5metres, goes into the living room 5x5metres then finishing up in the dining room 3x4metres. Is this too large an area for a floating floor?

    Fitting Oak Planking onto Asphalt

It is level, not sticky and I will go ahead with the floating method. Thank you very much for your advice.
