    Patchy Grout and colour mismatch

Update: I've spoken to the place I bought it from and they have spoken to the manufacturer. Apparantly they think that the adhesive has reacted with the grout to give the discolouration, and happens fairly regularly with DIY jobs. Does this sound feasable or rubbish. The adhesive was done a...

    Patchy Grout and colour mismatch

Damn. Mixed by hand. Though it was very runny and pretty well mixed. I also mixed the additive and water together first. Does the additive affect the colour then? Is this why the overall finished colour is different to the sample I did without additive? What are my options then - can it...

    Patchy Grout and colour mismatch

I've just grouted our bathroom in a greyish grout. They place I bought it from have me a couple of samples of the grout which I tried with scrap tiles and chose the colour I wanted - mixed with water. I then grouted for real and also used flexible additive as it is for a floor. There are now...

removing surplus adhesive (and grout) from tile surface

I've tiled our bathroom floor but have a few bits of adhesive and finger marks left over. They seem to rub off easily enough. I'd ideally like to wipe the whole tiled area down to remove all the marks. Is there anything special I should use or just bathroom cleaner? Is there a time limit for...

Supporting weight with top of freezer

Excellent, will chuck a couple of them at the back too. As for it breaking down there is enough room around it to pull it out fairly easily. Difficult to describe but its not like I've boxed it in as such, just put it under a shelf/worktop. Thanks for everyone's help

Supporting weight with top of freezer

Thanks, I've afraid it isn't supported three sides - just the two at either side. The back of the shelf is stairs and at a 45 deg angle so not the easiest to fix to. I'm hoping I can just rest on the freezer. I will put battons front to back underneath where the microwave feet will be and...

Supporting weight with top of freezer

Thanks. Its already built, and as I said I thought I was being clever by leaving a gap at the top for ventilation. Turns out the wood is more flexible than I thought though. I suppose it is a big shelf. I should have also mentioned that the freezer is in a thin pantry i.e. 1 metre and the...

Supporting weight with top of freezer

I have a single size front opening freezer. I've put a large shelf over the top of this approx 1.5 inches above it - by large I mean the full depth and width of the freezer. The shelf is only 12mm contiboard though so really needs supporting in the middle as it bends if I'm to put a...

    Polycell 'BaseCoat for Walls'

I used it in our bedrooms. Wouldn't bother again, and definitely not in a hallway. If you can get a decent price to have it skimmed do that instead. Too much time, hassle and not brilliant finish, and at £25 a tub it starts to mount up a bit.

    blending brush and roller

Thanks Guys. As you have both said and I worked out myself when doing again, I think it was too warm and the paint was drying too quickly as you say. I was doing a wall at a time anyway, but when I put it on it was really dragging, and was near enough touch dry within a couple of minutes. Ended...

    blending brush and roller

OK. Will give it a go. Any idea why the other wall didn't cause problems - are some paints better than others? Is it a case of one layer of paint thicker than the other or what? Could I get away with rollering what I have now, or will I need to re do the brush bits as well?

    blending brush and roller

I painted a room yesterday using a light colour B and Q own brand wipeable matt. I used a brush around the edges approx 6" in, taking care to brush in fairly well rather than leave a thick dripping coverage. I then rollered up to and over this, but there is a really obvious border around the...

Hot water only heats radiators as well

Thanks Assuming that to be the case could that be putting air into the system, or is that still likely to be something else?

Hot water only heats radiators as well

Since it started getting a bit warmer and we haven't had the heating on, we have noticed that if we put the hot water on only, it also heats up the radiators. What is wrong with it? In addition, could this be the reason for the excessive air we get in the system - see my previous post...

    Fitting skirting boards

Check my other posts for various problems/solutions. I'm sure others will help you also. As for tools I spend £15 on a power mitre saw from b and q -and it was probably the best £15 I have ever spent. The one I got was only big enough to cut 4" skirting though so you might have to pay more...

    curved walls skirting?

Ah, I've used it before actually. Didn't even think of using on wood though. Might hive it a go if I find any big gaps on mine. Cheers

    Insulation between floor void

Great. Is there any issue with preventing ventilation within the floorspace or anything?
