    WORKTOPS IN KITCHEN

cheers masona never even thought about sink position causing the backpain. i've always put that down to the height of the units - i've never found anywhere with a sink that's been the right height for me (and i'm an average 6ft) - it's quite funny how over the last 50yrs or so clothes...

    WORKTOPS IN KITCHEN

gotta agree with beatts :D no nails is great for picture rails Et al. but cupboards  if you read the details it does mention about not using it for shelves and the such likes... best attach them to the walls with screws but to do that now could be an interesting situation...

thanks IanDB will see if i can't find a publication :O) we've had a bit more information back - allegedly they pulled out because they couldn't get building insurance because the property leasehold is owned by the council(?) - not sure how much i believe that, but either way we've now...

question from a friend they've got a section of about 1 to 2 sq meters of blown bricks (about 2 - 5 mm has come off the face of each brick) what are the implications of not getting them replaced - i said it shouldn't matter too much - apply some water seal over the blown bricks and worry...

    concrete hearth set into floor

in the kitchen we have an old fireplace - in front of the fireplace the old cement hearth has been taken out (the one in our living room is plush with the floorboards and i assume that the actual hearth was built on top of this 'cement' base?). This base has been replaced with chip board...

    Renovation question

hey dazb just my personal point of view but a big bathroom is much better than a small one - all the hassle required to make it into a 4 bed house might not be worth it as potential buyers could be put off because the bathroom is so small - unless of course you already have one room with an...

    Gaps between floorboards

hmmm lifting the floorboards and re-laying is NOT going to be an option - the misses would go loopy with all the disruption - lol draughts aren't a problem as the kitchen is on the first floor (well it's on ground level but like i say in other posts we're on a steep hill - it drops 1 storey...

    Gaps between floorboards

cheers masona yeah i saw that post when i initially searched the forums - i expectit's one of the more time consuming options(?). this biggest problem i can foresee is the gap sizes e.g. one side of the room it's about 5mm, it narrows down to the middle where there is no gap, and towards...

    Gaps between floorboards

so anyone any recommendations/experience/opinions on which would be best??? we're just about to start on our kitchen (we sanded the floor in our living room and liked it so much we thought we'd do it the same - except this time we've going to fill in the floorboard gaps) if we go down the...
