    Secondary Glazing mount point ?

Ah ok thanks for the reply. I'm wondering if the best plan is to get some double glazed panels made up and embed them in the inside of the frame.

Existing laminate flooring and getting to gas pipes

Hello I have bought a house with laminate flooring in the lounge. My issue is I would like to fit a gas fire place in the chimney breast (well get a fire shop to fit) but I'm concerned that getting to the old gas pipes under the floor might be an issue. As it happens the previous owner asked...

3 millibar leak from Worcester 35CDI Combi Boiler, sounds expensive

Oh I have to be honest I don't know. The boiler was fixed a few weeks ago now and at the time with everything else going on such as roof leaks and window issues it was just good to get it fixed. Basically a heating engineer who is a friend of my father found the issue when installing a new rad...

3 millibar leak from Worcester 35CDI Combi Boiler, sounds expensive

I have the receipt somewhere but from memory I think the value was around 120 and the fan was a but more. The valve was a bit tricky because the one that was on there originally was not available as it had beeb superseded with a new version and the pipes were a bit different. If I had realised...

Remote control for lights with badly placed switch positions ?

Hi I've bought a old house which has been chopped and changed around over the years meaning a few of the light switches are not in great places because doorways have moved. An example would be the back lounge lights are not by the doors but in the corner of the room where there is no door. The...

Another 1930's no felt roof question

I've now had a roofer do a bit of work as the roof over the bay window started to leak. The felt on top had basically started to split. He did a good job of sorting that out and I got him to re-felt the kitchen flat roof, lovely job. He also fixed a few cracked tiles, and re-pointed the bottom...

3 millibar leak from Worcester 35CDI Combi Boiler, sounds expensive

Turned out the boiler had never been serviced in 9yrs even though the previous owner had paid for the work. I got a boiler engineer in who was a friend of a friend and he started looking at it and found it was blocked, the gas valve was leaking and the fan was faulty. All sorted now and running...

Parging / Tourching how to Stabilise

Sorry for the delay been rushed off my feet. Anyhow what I have done is make up a 1 in 5 PVA water mix and spray the remaining torching from inside the loft. This has basically stopped them dusting and falling off. They aren't rock hard and will eventually fall off but probably a good deal later...

Double glazing issue in bay window

Sorry for the delay. Anyhow my father decided to help with figuring things out. It turned out the bay window at the back had been fitted not too well and it had been over tightened in to the brick work which had pulled the frame out of alignment. The screws were very long because of the huge...

    Cleaning awkward to reach guttering

Sorry for delay in getting back I've been rushed off my feet. Anyway I got hold of a 5m pole with a gutter attachment, basically a brush one side and a hard plastic solid end the other. I used this to clean gutters and it worked a treat.

    Secondary Glazing mount point ?

Hi the 1930's house I bought is mostly double glazed but there are a couple of stained glass windows that on the inside of the frames I've noticed a couple of mount points like hinges that I suspect might have been used for hanging some form of secondary glazing in the past. I've taken a look...

    Cleaning awkward to reach guttering

Fairly sure they are probably blocked as they overflow where there is no join. I thought about the gopro route (I have one) but the guttering is 30ft up or so.

Double glazing issue in bay window

I've bought a 1930's house and the bedroom back windows have fairly new double glazing fitted however the two windows that open on the size of the bay in the back room when closed fit tight against the frame as the locking side but on the hinge side they stick out from the frame probably 4-5mm...

    Cleaning awkward to reach guttering

My new 1930's house needs the gutters cleans as there are some drips coming from some. My issue is I'm not as good with heights as I used to be and also some of the locations of the gutters are very difficult to access using a ladder to the angle the ladder can be placed and garden related...

Parging / Tourching how to Stabilise

I've got a 1930's house with un-felted roof which is fine. It is water tight and a roofer has taken a look and is planning on sorting out a few tiles here and there, he basically said it is fine and unless I want to solve the problem of dust in the loft it will be good for a fair few years yet...

Bringing a nice 1930's front door back to life ?

The house I've just bought has a nice 1930's heavy front door. In general it is in good condition however it is slightly warped at the bottom and it has several layers of varnish on it that have made it a lot darker than it originally was and in general slightly grubby. My questions are: 1)...

3 millibar leak from Worcester 35CDI Combi Boiler, sounds expensive

I'm not even sure what 3mB on the carcass equates to, are we talking enough gas to keep something like a pilot light going or is it less or more than that?

3 millibar leak from Worcester 35CDI Combi Boiler, sounds expensive

Ah OK thanks for the reply, I must have miss understood because I thought he was saying that there was a gas loss in the system and his sniffer went off when he placed it around the vent on the outside wall. I'll have another chat with him now I'm armed with a bit more info :)
