    Descaling my unvented water cylinder.

I want to introduce a solution of Fernox DS3 descaler into my Tribune unvented cylinder which is heated by immersion heaters. I live in a hard water area. Water softener is not an option. Here's what I propose: 1.Turn off electrics, cold and hot water. This isolates the system completely. 2...

    Britony 2T pilot problem

Thanks everyone. Problem fixed by fitter. He cleaned pilot jet etc. Works perfectly now.

    Britony 2T pilot problem

OK. Looked up the fault guide. Could be dirty/blocked injector or blocked pilot head or faulty pilot tube or wrong injector.

    Britony 2T pilot problem

The pilot seems to me to be weak (I am no expert but it appears weak to me). Moreover once lit, it wont stay on (the lighting knob has not been turned further than the piezo operate position). Once lit, the flame just peters out. If anyone can suggest which part is likely to be the problem, I...

Plumbingwise.....do you think this is wise....

I will do this. To be on the safe side, I may even run into the down pipe cold water to keep things cool.

Plumbingwise.....do you think this is wise....

Thanks for your input. Whereas I could determine the quantity of water discharged, I dont know if I could find the info about the plastics used in the pipework due to age of the pipework, 1973. All I can say is that the Marley plastics pipe would have been the highest standards available at the...

The Ratflap - anyone have any feedback on these?

I have had rat problem and dealt with it. In my humble opinion, I don't think an interceptor trap would stop a rat from swimming through it. My rat problem was via the drains and I actually proved that this was the entry system, I had my drains relined and the problem was solved. It was expensive...

Plumbingwise.....do you think this is wise....

My waste water plumbing is plastic (Marley), installed 1973. All good quality stuff, complying with all the necessary certificates. I have recently acquired an all singin all dancin washing machine that has a drum cleaning cycle that heats up to 90 deg centigrade. Whereas the machine might be...

Installation manual for an old (45 years old) gas fire.

Thanks. It was 1972 when Southern Gas as it used to be, first installed it. It was Towns gas then, and subsequently was converted to Natural gas. When first installed, it gave no end of trouble and Southern Gas had to attend several times to fully resolve the issue. I think they had to put in a...

Installation manual for an old (45 years old) gas fire.

Yes. It is a nice fire. Mine was fitted 42 years ago. It started to leak gas when set to low so I got one used one from eBay thinking any fitter would do the swap, but two have told me they need the installation manual. I have looked at many websites that sell PDF manuals but cant find anyone...

Installation manual for an old (45 years old) gas fire.

Thank you for your reply. My installer needs the installation manual so he can replace my old fire with a secondhand one I bought. I removed the trim as suggested. No GC number or anything there. Is it perhaps at the side, behind the removable panel?

    Britony 2T problem

You misunderstand. I bought the kit so that it is present for when the fitter comes along. I don' t think any fitter would carry this with him. As for going to any place that purports to supply boiler etc parts you must know they have not even heard of this heater. You may be well qualified, no...
