Would you be happy with this door?

Update 1: Without any pushing at all they've admitted the middle door is wrong and they are going to remake it. As it stands they are not going to remake the side windows as they are "there or there about's". Am I right in thinking the head of the frame should touch / be very near the lintel...

Would you be happy with this door?

Thanks for the useful information, it's always good to know what can be down the line. I'm hoping it won't get there but these days a good slating on Facebook can usually get them to buck their ideas up. As an aside should the frame go all the way up to the lintel? Even the glass side panels...

Would you be happy with this door?

To be honest I wasn't here when the guy measured up, the wife was. Still, he should have measured up properly and he knew it was a gateway to the conservatory. I could see by the fitters furtive calls that something was up. Indeed, having just phoned the company they have already seen a picture...

Would you be happy with this door?

Hi, It was an existing opening that goes into a conservatory. I don't want them to lift the door as we'll be forever tripping over the threshold!

Would you be happy with this door?

Hello, I've just had some very expensive aluminium french doors fitted to the rear of my house but, to me, it looks like they haven't measured the opening heights correctly. The french door is 65mm lower than the lintel, with the side windows being 30mm lower. Comments appreciated before I go...

Poor quality walls, what to do?

Yes. I was just wondering whether the Zinsser Gardz would give a better finish than the mist coat. I'm giving up for the day, its taken 3 hours and I've only prepped 2 walls :(

Poor quality walls, what to do?

Eventually It'll be painted. I was thinking a mist coat, 2 coats of emulsion then then 2 top coats.

Poor quality walls, what to do?

Hello, Ive started stripping paper in my new house (approx 23 yrs old) and, because the paper has been on all this time, the wall behind is in a pretty poor condition. The paste has mottled most of the magnolia base coat that was used directly on the dot and dab walls. I've started sanding...

Will this drain off tail piece leak?

To be honest It's probably not the best valve I've shown. It was just one I had knocking around. These are the valves I'll be adding: https://www.theheatingboutique.co.uk/hb-signature-talus-trv-white-thermostatic-valves-corner.html. This is the same one from an existing radiator I've just...

Will this drain off tail piece leak?

Hello, I'm in the process of changing all my radiators which are supplied by pipes which come out horizontally from the wall. I need to add a drain off valve to each radiator as they are drop fed from upstairs. I've seen this...

    10mm radiator feeds. Help required

A quick update: Radiator all fitted now and 15mm pipe soldered on, just waiting for the plasterer to come round and finish up. Took a little bit longer than i'd hoped, the skirting was fixed on with some pretty hardcore helical fixings. Started at 9, finished by 2. Big thanks to Old&Bold for...

Resistive load - LED lighting circuit

For those that are interested, the resistive load is useless. I'll have to set the minimum trim level from the dimmer and be done with it

Resistive load - LED lighting circuit

Hello, I've had an electrician add LED downlighters throughout my house. At lower dimming settings my Lutron dimmers aren't that good and there's some flicker from the bulbs (240V GU10). I've read that the danlers 10W resistive load can fix this problem and give me a better range of dimmers...

    10mm radiator feeds. Help required

The bit about battens - that's what i thought was involved, the plumber just quoted for the job. I'm sure he'd have known it was dot and dab onto blockwork. ...dont know why I mentioned cash to be honest. Its just this funny thing that they all say they'll do it cheaper if you give them a wad...

    10mm radiator feeds. Help required

I would say less than half a days work for a competent plumber so 100 cash. 2 rads, 1 day, £200.

    10mm radiator feeds. Help required

The pipes need to be moved approx 20mm either side. There's no need for two visits. How long would you honestly say something like this would take for a professional: Drain system Remove radiator Adjust pipes 20mm each side and add new TRV Fit new radiator Fill system
