    Concrete step needed for garden

These are what I currently have. They were probably put in 30 years ago so have weathered in nicely. So I want an extra step or 2 that match these as best as possible. So perhaps theres a premade concrete step/concrete block that looks similar? Is it almost as quick to shutter concrete...

What to do with these wooden planters?

Hi all Just bought these wooden planters off Facebook Marketplace. Id like to put soil in them for plants. Do I need to line them with black plastic? In the winter wont the roots rot becuase the waters got nowhere to go? If I put holes in the plastic so the water can escape wont that...

How to extend my zinc roof?

I thought it wouldnt be too hard either. I thought even simpler - just overlap the tin roof by a few valleys and not have any support - relyving on the overlapped section of the roof to take the strain. (the caveat being that I have NO IDEA what Im talking about!! I dont know anything about DIY...

How to extend my zinc roof?

Hmmm. I think for such little space gained its not worth it - unless there was a super-easy way of contsructing a make-shift roof. And I take your point that it would make any future maintenance on the house more difficult. Cheers.

How to extend my zinc roof?

Hi guys, Ive recently had a small annex built. It has a zinc roof. Theres a 800mm gap between the annex wall and the boundary. I suppose this space could be quite useful for storing patio furniture in the winter etc... It doesnt need to be weather proof, just enough to keep the worst off. So...

Can I fit a tap or handle to this?

Thanks all for your help. Im going to buy a little handle-thing which will fit and then - when I have a bit more time to think about it - get a plumber in to put a proper tap on. I may not use it at all, so not worth getting a proper tap. Ill see how it goes. Cheers!

Can I fit a tap or handle to this?

Ive just been out to take some more pictures. Just so Ive got this straight: I have a stop cock (tap vey near floor just below the ground wires) which stops ALL water to house; then a drain off valve (which obviously drains the system); and the insulated pipe. Have I got that right? :) The...

Can I fit a tap or handle to this?

Thanks. Ill do that at some point. But for now, Ive just found this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302327839016?ul_noapp=true . Looks like it will do the job? Are you saying that the washer could fail becuase this is a valve rather than a tap? In other words, its not really meant for regular use...

Can I fit a tap or handle to this?

Hi all, I have an outside valve(?) on the rising main in the garage. I currently use it as a tap by turning it off/on using a spanner. (Youll that Ive put a little bit of hose on there just to direct the water a little better.). Is there a way I can easily fit a tap on here? Or atleast a...

Is this roof big enough to collect rainwater?

Hi all, This is an odd question, but one I thought Id post before going to the trouble of fitting a water butt. I want to fit a water butt to the corner of an outhouse so its kinda hidden from view. But - as you can see - the roof is fairly flat (which may not be an issue) and small. I know...

Do I need to put matting under gravel?

Thanks - thats very interesting. I dont think its right for the front paths (I dont think it will look right) but I will definitely use that for the side and back gardens.

Do I need to put matting under gravel?

Hi all My house fronts onto a busy road. Theres 2 steps down to the front garden with an old gravel path running the length of the front. I will never use the steps or the gravel path (becuase its on a busy road and theres a side entrance that will be the main entrance). Id like to remove all...
