    yes certificate issued, no bonding at gasd meter is classed as NCS and advisable to respsosible person (landlord) to get done. so the landlord needs to get the engineer back to get it done as he paid for the certificate?

    yes i told him the cost £35 and he hasn't got back to me, so i will call him again or could run one myself as have some spare earth cable, just need a tag. the engineer (gas) doesn't need to be an electrician does he? all these reg's seem to change so often etc. just wanted to check...

    oh i see, thanks for your help. i know fuses can blow due to surges and not always because of a wiring/appliance fault - rcd's then only trip if a fault... to test an rcd you push the hutton in and it must pop out, is that correct?

    Boiler stat and noise question

    Just a quick question - if I turn my boiler stat up to its higher settings the boiler makes loud banging noises - like a hammer tapping the casing, but if I turn it to no. 3 or 4 setting it doesn't do so (or is very faint) - why is this?

    that is the one or is ery similar. victoria style tap. Have losened cover (threaded) and got to screw... but as mentioned, it split/broke in half, so cannot get screwdriver in slot to undo tap handle to acces headgear nut

    Sorry don't have a picture but it is a metal tap, crosshead type an the screw is a slotted type but has broken so no slot to put the screwdriver in :o

    Hi slight problem - am trying to change washer on dripping tap but the screw that connects tap head to body is broken in half :cry: I can't shift it now - is there anyway to remove it?

    Can anyone explain exactly what a volt free room stat is? Does it stil require the 3 wires to it, ie/ common, call and neutral? Or does it do away with the neutral? Mine's old and was just browsing a catalogue today and came across some but was a bit confused? Thanks for any info anyone...

    Hi I'm getting a new gas oven fitted, but this one is apparantly a fanned oven type! Is this the same to operate as a normal type, or is there a special switch to start the fan? Or does it come on on its own? Am just curious as how they work compared to the natural type without fans...

    Noisy tap problem

    Hi I don't know if anyone can help? My bathroom tap, single pillar rtype, when I turn it on, it makes a whirring/whistling noise. It has been getting louder over the past few weeks. What could this be please and how can I fix it it is annoying at night time especially :oops:

    I have a small problem - one of my radiators is dripping from the nut (slow drip) where the pipe joins the valve. I haven't even had my radiators on. I am not sure if my son or dog has knocked it, or if the olive has just corroded over time etc? will I need to drain down the whole system...

    maybe a bit of scale inside your boiler's heat exchanger, boiler silencer added to your system via header tank may be worth a try.
