How to stop bushes, weeds and scrubs poking through fence

At the back of my garden there are a lot of overgrown shrubs and tree. I trim these back but they just come back stronger. They poke through my fence and at the bottom too. Any suggestions how to stop this? I have to have gaps in my fence as that's what it's like all round my garden.

Advice needed from a joiner pleaseeeeee

So... I employed a builder to knock a wall through, plaster and then install 4 door folding system. The builder knocked the wall down and installed the RSJ himself. He got trades to do the rest. The problem is the joiner has made a mess of the doors and frame. I had to sack them it was that bad...

Attaching 3m door frame to RSJ

Got a set of 3m folding doors. The frame "needs to be attached to substantial timber or lintel". Above it is a double layer of PB and an RSJ. Should I attach the frame to the RSJ? If so, how would I do this? Self tapper screw? If so, can you post a link from screwfix? I wouldn't even know what...

    Advice on new petrol lawnmower

Right... I have a Bosch electric Rotak 32 at the moment and it cant handle my lawn at all. It sometimes stops with short grass if its damp (which isnt good for me in scotland!). So do you think I would get better results with a petrol lawnmower? If so which one?

    Painting new plaster help

Hi everyone, I have done a very bad thing :( I recently got 2 walls plastered as my builder is putting in bi-fold doors. I waited 5 days after the plastering to apply a 50/50 matt paint water mix. Not all the areas had turned the light clay colour (bad me!). Now i can see that the paint is...

Not using red oxide primer on RSJ

The builder primed the beam when it was up. Better than nothing. I spoke to he plasterer and he said that's the first time he has seen this builder prime an RSJ. it was all because I asked him about priming it.

Not using red oxide primer on RSJ

Builder has put up RSJ and said he will do the red oxide primer when its up. I am sure he would have needed to have done this BEFORE the RSJ goes up. What happens if its not primed at all (I am sure he wont prime it)

    RSJ and padstone overlap

Thanks for confirming. I am having to second guess this builder as he's cut so many corners already! I asked him about the zinc oxide coating on the RSJ and he said the plaster would put this on the beam when it's up. Does this sound like something a plasterer would do?

    RSJ and padstone overlap

Can someone confirm what the overlap should be on the padstone for the RSJ. The length of the padstone is 425mm and the length of the Opening is 2522mm. However my builder is just fitting a RSJ length of 2815mm. Is his enough for the overlap. Don't trust the builder (long story!)

Help! Builder advice needed. Acro props and padstone advice

Unfortunately the cable was incased in metal conduit which mean it was buried deeper into the wall. Its all been bend out the way now to hopefully miss the new padstone when it goes in.

Smoke alarm advice from an electrician

He ended up fitting 4 Aico fire alarms. He said my other smoke alarms need matched up, which is fair enough. £310 to replace 3 smoke alarms and add an additional one in another room + the all important certificate for the building warrant.

Help! Builder advice needed. Acro props and padstone advice

The cable run comes down from the ceiling. This is in a metal conduit and it runs down exactly where the padstone should be. The spark has move the lightswitch by bending the metal conduit out of the way. He done this FOC which was good of him.

    Wet rough casting

Can someone let me know a how to guide on wet rough casting ? (When the pebbles are mixed in with the cement etc.) It's only a small area I need to do so I am not wanting to get someone in to do it.

    Will BAL primer do?

You could have the option of tanking the PB or MR PB. Probably works out cheaper and easier using cement board

How much to board & skim this wall?

Really? That much? I would have expected it to be a lot less than this. I got a wall 2.4m by 5m boarded and skimmed for £250.

    Builders keep me right here
