RSJ and padstone overlap

Can someone confirm what the overlap should be on the padstone for the RSJ.

The length of the padstone is 425mm and the length of the Opening is 2522mm. However my builder is just fitting a RSJ length of 2815mm. Is his enough for the overlap.

Don't trust the builder (long story!)

Most S.E.'s factor in a minimum beam end bearing of 100mm regardless of pad size.
It seems like you have a healthy 150mm bearing so it looks like you will be ok.

Thanks for confirming. I am having to second guess this builder as he's cut so many corners already!

I asked him about the zinc oxide coating on the RSJ and he said the plaster would put this on the beam when it's up. Does this sound like something a plasterer would do?
