Which GU10 do I need for this spotlight socket?

Thanks, I'll try the clips first - good idea. As a matter of interest it is just a close fit on the CFLs or is there a groove that these particular bulbs twist and fit in to?

Which GU10 do I need for this spotlight socket?

Friends, I had some spotlights fitted in the dressing room about a year ago but I want to replace the bulbs with LEDs (we have Energy Saving CFLs at the moment and they take too long to warm up). Trouble is...I went to replace one of the bulbs and it is too small. First of all it took me a...

Loft extension for a low pitch roof?

Thanks for your input. Your assumption on steeper gradient is correct and I'm aware that PP will be required.

Any takers? Must be plenty of members with this experience... Tradesmen perhaps - just a rough idea would help at this stage. Thanks,

Loft extension for a low pitch roof?

Hi, Can anyone provide a ball-park figure converting a loft whch has a very low pitched roof? It is so useless (1969 build) that I am guessing we would have to construct an entirely new roof (rather than play with what we have and build dormers etc. It has a large(ish) footprint - 5 bed...

    Lighting 101, basic but...

Thanks guys - really glad I asked the question because the sticker on the lamp is clearly advising (incorrectly) that a CFL cannot be more that 13W (hence my question) with the shade/lamp. But I now understand that I could add the 20W CFL that we really need in that lamp to make the room...

    Lighting 101, basic but...

    Lighting 101, basic but...

OK thanks. It is a standard bayonet fitting. So I have to keep to the 13W (max) if I use a CFL? But with LED I can go up to....?

    Lighting 101, basic but...

We have a pair of lamps that have 60W / 13W as the guideline. My wife wants maximum light from it... If I use an energy saving bulb can I go above the recommended 13W? Basic but thanks! Cal

Overflow issue with Potterton Gold tank?

it was the expansion unit. Not the end of the story however as the hot water taps then started to discharge discoloured water. I'm told the coil in the cylinder has probably gone (although only 3.5yrs old). So we are now waiting for Potterton to turn up to check it out. Question is...

Overflow issue with Potterton Gold tank?

Can anyone at least tell me if it is ok to keep putting the hot water on (for showers etc) despite the cold water discharge? I have contacted 3 plumbers so far and none have responded. Regards

Thanks - given the Megaflo, should I try this first? Possible air gap?

Overflow issue with Potterton Gold tank?

Yes, we do have a Baxi megaflow and the 'plastic pipe' drips/leaks when the water is heating up.

Overflow issue with Potterton Gold tank?

I apologise in advance as I am mr rubbish at plumbing - hoping therefore for help... We have a Potterton Gold 250l hot water tank. This morning I heard 'bubbling' noises and saw that water was dripping from a copper pipe into a plastic pipe by the side of the tank. I only guessed that it is...

    LED compatible timer switches...

just found this thread where an immersion heater timer was used in a similar situation. http://www.diynot.com/forums/electrics/timer-light-switch-for-led-bulbs.342772/#2560711 Assuming this works - does anyone know if a digital timer would work - just to make it look better?

    LED compatible timer switches...

Do they exist? Even this Timeguard timer, which claims to work with low energy lights does not handle LEDs http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SMZV700.html Timeguard confirmed that even with the FLA01 Strip Light Adaptor fitted, the timer will not work with LEDs. Either I need an...
