    Extension Concerns

Thanks for the replies and I understand what they are trying to do now. I didnt mean to offend but the builders have been aggressive, rude and intimidating so we hope the extension is soon completed. Thanks again.

My in laws live in a semi detached house and their neighbours in the other semi are having an extension built at the moment. The extension has a slanted roof. At three rows of bricks above where the extension roof meets the house walls, the builder has cut into the cement between the next row...

    Leaking shower tray

I recently fitted a shower cubicle and tray in the corner of the ensuite. I fitted the tray tightly to the wall on its frame and tiled down on top of the edge of the tray. I grouted the 1mm gap between the tiles and tray aand then smoothed a good quality silicone sealant over the top so I...

    8.5 kW Shower

Thanks for all the advice and posts. I understand a lot more what is going on now with my shower circuit. I will get an electrician in to upgrade me to 10mm cable. How much should it cost for the labour ? 10mm cable is normally about £3 per metre.

    8.5 kW Shower

From what you have told me, I am concerned about my present circuit design for the 8 kW shower. The only reason that we havent had problems is that we run the shower mid range on its thermostat and therefore it only draws half its max current (17 Amps ish). I will call an electrician and get...

    8.5 kW Shower

I assumed that I have 6mm cable because the overall diameter of the cable is 13mm. I have measured the diameter of the live cable as between 4 to 5 mm . The neutral is the same. Both live and neutral have 7 strands. The earth only has only one strand. They are 40 homes on my estate which are...

    Shower Cubicle Tiling

Should I tile the complete shower cubicle area before I fit an electric shower to the tiles (minus a hole for the electrical cable and water feed) or fit the shower to the plasterboard and then tile around the shower ? Thanks in advance.

    Changing Shower

I am changing my shower from a 8 kW to a 9.5 kW. Should I get a MCB of 40A or 45 A for my consumer unit ? Also, I think i have 10mm cable supplying the shower at the moment. The diameter including the insulation on the live wire is about 6mm. Also the earth is multi stranded. I am fairly sure...
