My electric towel element is cr*p!! Why?

Hi I put in a heated towel rail that runs off both the boiler and a Rico Aquarius electric element. The central heating makes it it give out an insane amount of heat. However, close the valves and leave one slightly open then flick the fused spur and it's a complete flop. I can leave it on...

Can anyone help with light wiring please?

Ok I've done it and it works. I dumped the loops in the 4th terminal and put the switched in the live. Is there anyway to check if this is going to kill me if I touch the fitting? Earth is obviously in the terminal but I have a multimeter. Thanks, wiki helped loads.

Sqealing toilet, taps etc since going plastic?!

I adjusted the tap position on the main stop cock and it has kind of resolved. New tap? Mean I was have to turn it off from the street and it's coming in on a steel feed. :( Maybe just leave it? Not sure of the cost to replace these.

Yeah I used speedfit with the superseals and cut it where the arrows were so all the pipes should be fine.

Sqealing toilet, taps etc since going plastic?!

It's happening on turning the hot bath tap off too and it all started at the same time. Maybe it'll disappear when I redo the kitchen in plastic.

Sqealing toilet, taps etc since going plastic?!

Hi Ever since I redone the bathroom and changed it to plastic I've had the issue of sqealing when the taps are either turned off or when the toilet cistern has nearly filled. Seems like as the supply is stopped then the sqealing comes, has a little whine then stops. It's only effecting...

    Extending my BT line

There's a grey box outside and the cable comes through the wall straight to the master socket. Are you saying I could open that up and stick some replacement cw1308 cable in then run it to where I want the master socket? Thanks

    Painting a handrail

Hi We've got a pine handrail on the stairs which needs to be white! We're avoiding gloss, and acrylic paint marks too easy. Any ideas of something that's not gloss but is hard wearing and suitable for a handrail? Satinwood? Basically it needs to be Matt/Satin and wipeable/durable whilst...

    Extending my BT line

Hi I have a BT line which comes into the house and connects to the openreach socket with just the blue and white wires, the rest have been cut off. I need to move the socket. Does anyone know what I'll need in order to extend this so the socket can go in another room? I'm guessing the cable...

    IKEA kitchen units and pipework

Hi I've read that IKEA units are probably the best out there for a tighter budget. We've got a gas main running around the kitchen but under the unit height so no worries there. Then we have the sink and pipes to the boiler. What should be happening here? I'll probably get someone in to...

Estimated cost of fence for garden? Pic inside.

Hi We've been quoted £2000 to have the fence replaced in the pic. This would be with Jacksons panels and slotted posts. It will be done when the garden has been terraced and made good. Would you say this is a fair price or over the odds? Thanks

    Foundations for sleepers?

You can see the first two planned terraces. The third will be dug out near the top of the garden and will be levelled so that the garden is no longer a slope but flat.
