Cat5e cable / patch panel for internal bell box / buzzer?

Hi all, As above, if a house has Cat5e wiring and a patch panel near the alarm unit, is there any way this cabling can be used to connect an internal buzzer for when the alarm sounds? Or is Cat5e cabling simply not suitable for alarm usage? I can get more details on the alarm panel itself if...

Finding matching coving / cornice (one piece needs replacing)

Hi all, Need to replace a couple of pieces of coving. I have found what I need (below) but it is not in stock anywhere nearby (even if I travel a reasonable distance). My question is, is any 135mm s profile coving going to be identical? Or does it need to be the same brand? The two I've...

Changing MR16 bathroom lights to LED (from halogen)

Hi all, Looking some advice please. I currently have 6 halogen MR16 12v lights in the bathroom. They are powered by a transformer individually at each light (this is what was recommended to us a couple of years ago when the previous one transformer failed, that was powering the whole circuit)...

Need 2 sided item to attach ring terminals to-Binding post?

What problems did you have with yours John? Unsteady voltages? Then heat, after you added the resistors to steady the voltage?

Need 2 sided item to attach ring terminals to-Binding post?

I was thinking the same, that it should be okay if it is steady now without any load, hopefully with load should be fine too, the load will only be small anyway

Need 2 sided item to attach ring terminals to-Binding post?

Hi John That's exactly what I'm trying to do I have been made aware of that. But it seems I'm getting very very steady voltages (they're not changing at all), checked with a digital multimeter, without any load on the PSU whatsoever... So I'm hoping it will be okay? Thanks

Need 2 sided item to attach ring terminals to-Binding post?

Sorry, I have replied to all your questions, they're inline with the quotes as I was on my phone and couldn't easily separate all the quotes I'll maybe have to rethink the plan then slightly and move my PSU fan to the top, replace the fan cutout with a metal plate and use that instead[/b]

Need 2 sided item to attach ring terminals to-Binding post?

Thanks for both replies I have the suitable crimping tool and fork ends already so that's okay :) Now just to find the correct binding posts. Do you know of any stores in the UK that will sell them (rather than online)? Is it more a thing that you'll find in audio/hi-fi specialist shops...

Need 2 sided item to attach ring terminals to-Binding post?

Hi all, (This seems to be the most appropriate place to post this, if not, please can a moderator move it to the appropriate section) I'm looking for something, a lot of people use a binding post for this task, but I've never used one and have a few questions. Please see the image below...

Problem with Neff conventional oven not heating up

Thank you for the details I removed that panel and, very oddly, there was absolutely nothing behind it, not even an empty space, just a gap of maybe 2mm - 3mm then the back of the oven An electrician friend told me it is likely to be behind the oven which means removing it from the unit...

Problem with Neff conventional oven not heating up

Hi all, Had an odd electrical/burning sort of smell from a Neff conventional oven recently, went on for maybe 3 or 4 weeks with the oven working fine. But now the oven no longer heats up. It is an oven / grill (the grill still works), and it has a Neff fan oven below. It is just the top...
