Do you think it could still be live? Though there is no record of any gas supply at my address when checking from https://www.findmysupplier.energy/

Carpenter required to repair wooden window

The windows are actually not sash windows, one of them tilts around the horizontal axis while the second one tilts around the vertical axis. One is easily removed, haven't tried removing the one that tilts horizontally.

    What is this pipe for?

Could anyone identify the pipe circled in red in the images below? I moved into a Victorian terraced house (from 1870); I only have electricity and intend on getting gas installed, and came across this pipe which is not the current water supply (which is supplied from a separate lead pipe)...

Carpenter required to repair wooden window

I was afraid it might be the case, I know someone who used a product Big Boy quite successfully, though the area I have to cover is not that small... I will think about it, to be honest I might have to go for that option since I haven't managed to get in touch with any carpenter in my area.

Carpenter required to repair wooden window

Thanks for the detailed answer big-all, do you think it would be possible for the repair to take place onsite? (i.e. without removing the window, the external can be accessed from the inside if the window is flipped around) I shall have the required budget to replace the whole windows in around...

Replacing main water lead pipe with MDPE.

Thanks a lot, very detailed answer and spot on! I called Scottish Water and they already sent me a form for a track inspection, they confirmed they will connect the MDPE pipe to the main stop cock for free. Last question if I may, according to the regulations I believe that both the gas and...

Rubber seal leaking on toilet pan connector

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice I was given, diynot.com is my favourite forum! I was a bit worried to make a mess cutting off the pipe to remove the original solvent welded pan connector but that was the right thing to do. Ended up using a flexi pan connector to address the offset...

Rubber seal leaking on toilet pan connector

Thanks all, I have now a plan of actions! Since the height of the soil pip on the wall might slightly different than the one from the wc spigot, wouldn't it just be easier just to get an "all in one" device such as? https://www.toolstation.com/flexible-pan-connector/p44832 I read flexi one...

Rubber seal leaking on toilet pan connector

It is a solvent welded pan connector, I cannot remove it. If I cut it at the base, I won’t have enough pipe to fit a push-in pan connector as it would be to close to the wall. Can a solvent welded pipe be cut along the length and then removed?
