    Off Grid Heating

Yep love it, especially Anglesey. Boring! Depends what you like I suppose. Fishing, sailing, wind surfing, beautiful beaches (and lots of them), cycling, great walking, pubs/restaurants (are improving)... sheep. The one thing I will miss is the good live music venues of Manchester.

    Off Grid Heating

I'm looking to move to Anglesey where large areas of the island are off grid. I have been spoilt throughout my life in that I've always had mains services. I guess the main alternatives are electricity, oil and LPG. I'll rule electricity out straight away as I believe it is prohibitively...

    Railway Sleeper Retaining Wall

I want to create a 24" high retaining wall and current thought is railway sleepers. I would propose to use 8' x 8" x 4" sleepers stacked on their narrowest edge ie 3 x 8" to create a 24" high wall over a length of 56 feet. I would use sleeper posts in to the ground at 8 foot intervals and dead...

I have been pondering over this for a while but I need a cheap solution for a retaining wall on a patch of land at the side of my house. I want to semi level the areas and am thinking of using 2 x 12" concrete base boards (24" high holding back around 22" of soil) over a length of about 60...

    Agricultural land for a caravan!?

Ideally to use it as a holiday base, though even to use it for storage would still be of use, depending on purchase price, which is indicated at £4.5k for 0.5 acre.

    Agricultural land for a caravan!?

Hi I've got an opportunity to buy some agricultural land in rural Wales which I'm considering buying as a base to leave a touring caravan on. Next to the land there is a small row of terraced houses but little else apart from brilliant views. There is a decent high mature hedge which would...

Advice Needed On Roller Garage Doors

Thanks for the reply. Yes the lintel carries the outer leaf of brickwork. The more I look at what is available the more confused I get and I'm beginning to think you are right when you say calling in an expert can pay for itself: ) I had a quick look around our estate and several...
