    Cistern slow drip and filling

Ok after some fighting and adjustment I think I may have fixed it. It's just taken about 20mins before it did a little fill which is what it was like before

I've tried turning this screw but it doesn't seem to turn and just jumps

    Cistern slow drip and filling

Hi guys, we had our fill valve changed a while ago and replaces with a Fluidmaster which I was told was the bee's knees. Unfortunately although it used to fill slightly every now and then, it's now almost constantly slightly dripping and then refilling about every 30 seconds. Is this something...

    Dripping kitchen tap

Boom, Stuart 1 - Drip 0. Had to buy a 5 pack of washers for the mighty sum of £1.51 Struggled to get it on but I guess they aren't supposed to be easy but with a bit of persuasion from pliers it went on. Reassembled and no drip from the cold. Tried the hot, considering I didn't change that one...

    Dripping kitchen tap

Didn't think it looked right :D So I'm going to shoot to Toolstation and get a new washer, hopefully that could be the cause and I'll put it all back together testing with the hot water still off.

    Dripping kitchen tap

Tempted to change the tap, but it looks like when the B&Q fitted the kitchen 6 years ago, they used copper to push-fit connections so I'm not sure how easy it's going to be to replace that.

    Dripping kitchen tap

Difficult to try and get the pics but hopefully can see firstly the washer isn't even and secondly the hole is quite big

    Dripping kitchen tap

well I've just washed a video on repairing a Franke tap which looks similar and all he does is cleans the brasswork in vinegar and bicarb so I'm just trying that, although I couldn't shift the hot water shroud to take it out. One thing I did notice was that although there was a washer halfway...

    Dripping kitchen tap

We've had a mixer in our kitchen that has the normal up and over bend which has been fitted for around 6 years. It's always dripped slightly when turning off the taps but the other week, we lost all pressure in the cold tap. A plumber was here servicing the boiler and had a look and it turns...

    Hot upstairs level

That's just it, couple of days a year and it's going to end tonight. Could go for an AC unit in the bedroom either portable or fixed but for the sake of maybe 1 week/year it's probably never worth it :D

    Hot upstairs level

Tiled roof. Fortunately it does seem a bit cooler today. There seems to be a lot of options on the 'net for whether to leave windows open and close curtains depending on their colour. I'm going to try the theory of opening the window when it's cool outside and close when it's hotter. I will...

    Hot upstairs level

No fortunately the blinds are white and non black out but the curtains are black out but white lined on the inside. I thought the back of house was cooler buy I've just checked and at 9pm it's 26 still in the hallway, 29.5 in the front bedroom and 29 in the rear bedroom. Outside temperature is 22.

    Hot upstairs level

Yes we are south facing as well with an 18ft window downstairs although again black out curtains but they seem to do nothing. Bedroom is also south facing but not such a big window but hoped black curtains would do something but it's obviously the rising heat. We have a fan on constantly from...

    Hot upstairs level

Hi all, I know we are currently going through a heatwave at present, but I'm still keen to see if there are any solutions to cool my upper level. When I visit my parent's house it's lovely and cool throughout but with ours, it's 26C as you open the door and then as you climb the stairs, the...

    Squeaky leather pad

Hi guys, One of our dining rooms chairs has developed an annoying squeak as you move around on the seat. It's an oak chair with a leather pad and the sound is coming from the seat and not the frame. Is there any easy way to resolve this?

    Cooling upstairs

That's what I would have thought but I've read several posts that states it keeps rooms cooler by keeping the hot air out
