Installing new oven ring main without making a mess. Possible?

Nah, there's a socket on the induction hob switch. But that's on a separate breaker

Installing new oven ring main without making a mess. Possible?

No thermal insulation, it's chased into the wall and clipped onto a joist. I do know it's heavier cable than what the 13A sockets have but unsure on the size. It's really stiff whatever it is. See attached photo for back of switch on wall.

New shed allowing water through the tongue and groove shiplap

I haven't spoken to Dobbies, as it was through GBC Garden Buildings, a concession within Dobbies. Payment was made directly to a company called Timber Garden Buildings. They just seem to be stalling for time now. I thought maybe the T&G is the wrong way, but if it is the entire shed is because...

Installing new oven ring main without making a mess. Possible?

Ah sorry, not sure on the correct terminology. It's a cable direct from the consumer unit to the oven, no other appliances served from it. It has a 20A breaker on the consumer unit for it. Is that a radial? So even if we opt for a 5.9kW oven, if it's 4mm cable, it should be ok? Existing...

New shed allowing water through the tongue and groove shiplap

I did consider this, but have been working in China for a few weeks and returned last night to look at their latest attempts. Not only have they clad silicone all over, but the bottom corners are soaked through also. The table legs are saturated too. I think it's gone beyond a gutter now. I...

New shed allowing water through the tongue and groove shiplap

I agree, I have raised this with the manufacturer. Water is literally running down the walls externally. They say they're all made like that. All I can assume is there's a lot of people out there with the issue who probably haven't noticed.

Installing new oven ring main without making a mess. Possible?

Hi, Our kitchen has a 20A ring main for our double oven. Looking at buying a new double oven and they're all 32A. The existing cable appears to come out the consumer unit, up the wall, into the ceiling, along a joist and then back in the wall and goes down to the oven. The walls are solid and...

New shed allowing water through the tongue and groove shiplap

Hi, Update on this shed. It's still leaking water in through the walls despite several visits from the manufacturer. I now have silicone around the windows and all sorts which I'm furious about as when I apply preservative it's going to dissolve. I've asked 3 times for a refund and collection...

New shed allowing water through the tongue and groove shiplap

Hi Ken, Yes, they erected the building. One of the first things I checked was my rights under the Visa scheme. I paid for it with a Visa debit card though. Their response to the roof leaking did appear sincere. One thing I have noticed is the roof only overhangs the side by about 10mm...

New shed allowing water through the tongue and groove shiplap

Hi, At the end of August we took delivery of a Fort Harpford Barn shed, with 15mm pressure treated shiplap and shingle roof. Last week I noticed water soaking along the t&g roof on the inside and on inspection found that there is no felt overhanging the edges of the roof sides and likely...

Replacing Salus wireless thermostat with Nest

With regards to positioning of the thermostat. We have TRV's in ever room except the bathroom and kitchen. We used to have the Salus in the kitchen. Would it be ok placing it in there? It's more a kitchen diner than an out and out kitchen. It's the most used room in the house. Or would the...

Replacing Salus wireless thermostat with Nest

Sorry, yes, it's a Worcester combi boiler. I'll use the plug for powering the thermostat. Sounds pretty straight forward then. Thanks

Replacing Salus wireless thermostat with Nest

We have a Nest 3rd generation thermostat waiting to be installed and I was considering having a go installing it myself but just want to ask opinion on here first then decide whether or not to get a professional to do it. There is a fused spur going into the Salus which then goes onto the...

    Replacing cast guttering

No, there's no fascia. You can see the rafters/eaves or whatever they're called beneath the gutters.

    Preparing bathroom floor for lino

Cheers lymmranger. Yes, I guess I do mean vinyl. The toilet is coming out, and the basin is a wall mounted vanity unit so that's out of the way. There's some boxing around the internal soil pipe and what not which will need shaping. I was already planning on making a template as the...

    Replacing cast guttering

Our gutters look to be pretty well useless now, probably around 50 years old and practically every joint is leaking with several cracked. I climbed up and took a look the other day, and notice the hooks supporting the gutters go underneath the roof tiles. Are these called rhone hooks? There's...
