Removal of supplementary bonding in bathroom?

You're correct that the owner wants them removed for cosmetic reasons however I'm not the owner. I've been asked to remove them if possible which I'm not prepared to do if they're removal is not permitted even if the requirements are subsequently met. As I mentioned, I know what the...

Removal of supplementary bonding in bathroom?

I know the requirements needed for omitting supplementary bonding in a new install but can bonding be removed in an existing install if the requirements are retrospectively met?

    PIR light only on constant

Lots of these lights with integrated PIR's have a 'pulse override' which as you say is operated by rapid switching so it probably is just that, try switching it off for a few seconds then back on and leaving it for a minute or so to see if it goes through it's setting procedure then in to...

    Multimeter

That's a Rapitest Multimeter with what it looks like are different company stickers on it, they probably bought a load and rebranded them. It'll do everything the average DIYer will need (and more) and is small enough to fit in a box/bag without cluttering it up. I've got one knocking about and...

    Marley Showerlite exploding

If it's this type http://www.screwfix.com/prods/25652/Heating-Cooling/Extractor-Fans/Manrose-Shower-Light-Extractor-Fan-Kit-100mm# it's a good idea to install the fan on its side to prevent moisture running down the ducting and in to the electrical compartment. This isn't mentioned in the...

    Doorbell transformer for lighting application?

Bit of a weird one this but can I use something like this http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/VE753.html to power a light fixture which has 2x 8v 2w miniature candle bulbs in it? The existing one is knackered and the light manufacturers are shut until 4th Jan and even when they are open they...

Isolation switch between Consumer Unit & Meter.

If you're just going to go the isolator route then these are perfect http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/WYREC2S.html Probably find them cheaper on ebay by the way too.

    Atlas Kablo (again)

I believe they lost their licence due to their cables having insufficient copper so simple resistance tests would prove whether he has affected cable or not.

2 mcb's to switch off 1 ring circuit

Someone has come to isolate one of their s/o circuits and realised that they have to switch off 2 mcb's to cut the power to the socket they want to replace, there are 4 32a mcb's in total all marked sockets, the cable is 2.5mm he's *sure* He doesn't think this has always been the case and they...

Minor works cert, extending a circuit.

That work isn't notifiable so if the NICEIC web submission form is similar to Elecsa then there won't be an option for it. You should have the option of choosing "Other" and describing the work if you ask me, that way you can notify anything you're not sure about.

    Time delayed trip

It sounds like your electrician is just recommending you have a sub main installed for your extension which can have a 5 secs disconnection time opposed to the 0.4 secs for final circuits, nothing wrong with that.

    Timed towel rail in bathroom?

Yes, assuming the towel rail is already installed and is outside zone 2. If it's not then there are other considerations to take in to account.

    Timed towel rail in bathroom?

These do a good job but would have to be outside the zones - http://www.timeguard.com/products/time/immersion-heater-controllers/fst17a-supplymaster-7-day-fused-spur-timeswitch

Transformer question - Can I replace...

I thought about putting a c type in (EFLI is <3) but I've never heard of the cu make so thought this would be easier than trying to source an obscure mcb. I assume you're talking about volt drop in regards to the cable length, if so what's different about the original transformer type in that...

Transformer question - Can I replace...

The existing transformer supplies 4x 50w MR16 light fittings on a dimming circuit, it seems to create a lot of inrush current which sometimes trips the B6 mcb if there's a fair amount of load on the rest of the circuit, it never used to do this. I'm hoping that replacing it will combat that...
