    Smart Meters, who's installing them?

Sorry for the very late reply, been busy! I want to know because my company seem to be keeping me at the numbty level of meter fitting. I want to get up to speed on installing 1 and 3 phase smart meters, before the big shift. Putting in pole position for the better pay when its all rolled out.

    Driving is getting worse?

You hit the nail on the head! At what point did a prestige german motor car become chavtastic? The hazard lights are used more offten on these cars than they every use the idicators! Stopping in a busy town centre, no problem....bang on the hazards and leave the car to get some shopping??

    Driving is getting worse?

To make guessing simple. What do tw*ts usually drive (think speeding, double parking, cutting you up)

    Driving is getting worse?

What is it? Is it the recession or something else. BUT, peoples driving is getting much worse. I am stopping letting people out of junctions myself because I have given up on this courtesy. The other day I came out of a one-way system. Stopping my van to show a guy that he can not drive the...

United Utilities want to replace our meter - why?

Not sure they would change it like that. But if you told them the "spinny thing" has stopped moving and the digits don't turn.....they would be out in a flash!! NB. A common point about sparks cutting seals. We NEVER report broken seals on the CUT-OUT. Breaking the meter seals for CU...

United Utilities want to replace our meter - why?

Sadly I do this job! (work for UU). Your meter won't be a Smart meter (SMS coms) as the trials are not complete before "rolling out" of the new technology. If you have a 1 rate credit meter you will get a little white box that's an Ampy 5235a. For 2 rate supplies either an Ampy 5224e or...

Fan Isolator in a Utility Room

Thanks RF ! Just out of interest if my maths is reasonable? If you spent 30 seconds/ thread reply or start, you have spent 3.2 days on this web forum. Or it could be worse if you have taken longer per post  Guess you already thought about that in another thread.

Fan Isolator in a Utility Room

Automatic I mean worked off the light switch on/ off, maybe with over run. Manual being maybe a pull cord. What height would you mount the isolator in a utility room?

Fan Isolator in a Utility Room

You can't have a fan isolator in a bathroom with a fan. Can you have one in the same space as the fan in a utility room? Or kitchen for that matter...? Can they be manual or do they have to be automatic? Cheers

Dumping manifold off underfloor heating system?

Still does not explain why Danfoss have made a device that limits the RETURN temperature? I understand not many people would want to fry an egg on the living room floor!

    Smart Meters, who's installing them?

I have seen and heard of Smart Meters (radio operated reading etc) being installed around the country slowly. Anybody know who does it in the Northwest apart from UU?

    Shower

The more question you ask the more it worrys me, as this end of the system is a potentially dangerous place to work. There are less "wires/cables" to work with here, but danger to you more life threatening! If you can't see the configuration of the system changes please leave work to someone...

    Jade Dies

All I ever see on this forum is soul-less selfish remarks given out to people that have not wronged them personally. She is lower working class (guilty) She spoke with an annoying accent (guilty) She had more money than you and me (guilty) She did not have political correctness (guilty)...

    Main incoming fuse

United Utilities don't fit meter equipment for Scottish Power any more in Cumbria as we lost the contract! Scottish Power will have their own guys now. Don't worry about this anyway , sparks always break the seals and pull the main fuse.

    Shower

I fit electric meters every day and so do my work mates. I see no seals on cut-outs all the time, do you think we report people for this common sight? No. Split the out going tails from meter into blocks. Run new 25mm cable from blocks back into your consumer unit and 10mm single core cable...

    What's our next big industry?

Make and sell Soylent Greens to the rest of the World! Using up anyone thats a useless *ucker to society! Or mulched! Slaves. They will be lots of Epsilons (what you get from breeding 2 chavs) in coming times to power giant wheels in power station machinery?? :D

    Qualifications for sparks

I have a friend (40) how has said he is a qualified spark but does not do into much detail. He said he is registered and can do rewires? If he were, what C&G's would he hold?

    meter change safety checks

He will basically test any socket for correct polarity. If its wrong he would test another. If all sockets are wrong polarity he will also test at the cut-out (black lump on wall). If polarity is correct at cut-out/ meter, he won't do the change because your equipment is in a dangerous state.

    Loss Of Supply

Looks like a job for United Utilities! Did you call them out, as you know the tails/meter belong to the electricity supplier. The 25mm tails(photo) to the CU are property owners. The cutout/supply cable belongs to the DNO (also a UU company in Cheshire). Don't see why the spark did...

Cyprus and its regulations on electricians etc

Has anybody worked in Cyprus as a spark (or plumber for that matter). Whats the local laws and regulation. Whats the set-up (voltage, system designs, accessories ect). Is it similar to UK regs due to the British influence or more Greek in the installation methods?? I see lots of people with...
