    Dismantling toilet waste pipe?

That sound about right. Thank you I will have a look to see if there are any other ways. The pipes are behind the waste, and right in the corner of the room. The pipes were laid under the floor tiles and the hot ruptured exactly where someone would step into the room, IE compressed by...

    Dismantling toilet waste pipe?

It has to be moved to get access to the 15mm pipe to be able to solder them, unless it is heat resistant?

    old type toilet siphon

This toilet is 30 years old, It has a tube protruding from the cistern into the bowl which I broke and there is the hemispherical piece of rubber with a hole in it that fits over the pipe. The new siphons seem to be simpler and I seem to recall that these old types are no made anymore, is...

    Dismantling toilet waste pipe?

To be able to unsolder a pipe connection and to solder a new one I think I will have to remove the toilet waste first. In the shower room below the bathroom the bathroom waste comes down the corner of the shower room, behind the waste are the two 15mm pipes for the shower room basin, They...

AGA saga: hot water leak and blockage

Thanks for your comments they are appreciated. By fault finding the leak was under the quarry tiles in the shower room. The structure of the floor from the top is: 1. Quarry tiles (Ruabon) 2. concrete. 3. scree 4. Concrete. There is a wide section of DPC that the pipes are laid onto by...

AGA saga: hot water leak and blockage

The AGA was not heating the water in the indirect hot water cyl (which I replaced on Wednesday), the feed pipe was barely warm. The AGA engineer suggested tieing the CWS tank ball valve up to see if there was a leak on the HW side which would explain why the AGA would not heat the hot water...

Pipe alignment with hot water cylinder boss

Thanks both. I think what i will do is to put the tank on a level piece of ground and then put a length of pipe in the joint to see how far out it is. Then I'll talk to the merchant to see what they say.. Its strange I never thought to ask the merchants, thanks again.

Pipe alignment with hot water cylinder boss

I have been trying to install a 35 gallon indirect hot water cyl Telford make). It replaced a 20 gallon one which is too small. I had to re route the pipe for the boiler feed to the hW cyl as the entry on the cyl was higher up on the cyl than the old one. I soldered and cut pipes and...

Boiler instead of AGA for hot water

Can someone advise on this please. Currently the oil AGA heats the hot water and the oil WB Danesmoor 15-19KW heats the 11 rads. 8x 400mm long doubles and 3x small 300mm long doubles. From what I have read it would not be too difficult to plumb the HW into the boiler and have the AGA just...

cracked coil in hot water cyl?

Hi John, before you go too far consider that it may be a mixer tap or shower mixer, internally passing mains water into the hot water pipe. Then pushing what should be hot out of the overflow pipe of the tank. No that would not happen. There is a mixer shower due for replacement and the hot...

cracked coil in hot water cyl?

It is a high Limescale area as we are adjacent to a Limestone ridge, some of which was quarried and used in Avonmouth docks, they stopped quarrying it as it was too hard. I will replace the ball valve in the F/E tank as I have one spare and talk to the AGA engineer on Monday. Thanks for your...

cracked coil in hot water cyl?

AGA and immersion heater heat the hot water. AGA supplies heat via two connections at rear of HW tank Two water tanks in loft: CWS and F/E. The F/E overflow drips outside and the valve does not seem to leak. The CWS valve dribbles (replaced 3 months ago) and does not shut off by water...

    Replace Mira 88?

This Mira 88 was installed about 30 years ago, I replaced the seals with the service kit but it still drips at the hose outlet when the hose is removed. I emailed Mira whose response was as below. I cleaned the piston seatings with wire wool and there is a small amount of bubbling in two...

    immersion heater

The live and neutral terminals were the ones I probed. Could not see the point of testing the L-E or N-E I do not know the spec of the meter but it is quite a good one.

    immersion heater

Is this one U/S 30 years old not used too often in a high scale (Limestone) area. Two switches. One by the back door one in the airing cupboard. Both have to be on for the EH to work. One in the airing cupboard is on, turn the other on and the fuse goes pop. Checked the wiring on both...

Dripping Mira 88 shower and stuck stop valve to water cyl

No I did not, but it is irrelevant surely. With the hose not attached to the valve there is a drip from the threaded boss on the underside of the valve to which the hose attaches. Hope you understand what I mean.

Dripping Mira 88 shower and stuck stop valve to water cyl

Sorry, I removed the hose and it leaks from the outlet threaded boss that connect to the hose at the bottom of the valve
