    water and gas bonding

thanks for the replys. seemed simple question when i wrote it. the bonding to the gas and water is the original 4mm or 6mm earthing, and the old consumer unit is being replaced by a new one. if the tails and main earth are being upped to 25mm and 16mm.does the 4mm bonding have to be upped to...

    water and gas bonding

if a consumer unit is being replaced, and the tails and main earth uprated. do the earths to the gas and water have to be upgraded,or can they be left as they already are i:e 4mm (or is it 6mm?) or if there are no earths on water and gas,are they ok if certain continuity readings are met.

    routing cables,rcd?

thanks ericmark,if the cable is out there it must be more cost effective for the customer for you to use it, ii someone just wants an extra socket or two in a bedroom that would cost say 100 quid (just a guess)then you tell them you have to change or add a consumer unit and the cost trebles,how...

    flickering low energy

two ordinary drops both from same switch, tried putting low energy bulbs in them, but they flicker, and if you put your ear close you can hear a sort of crackle. if i remove one, the remaining one still flickers, but if replace one of them with a normal bulb, the low energy one stops flickering...

    what type of cable

thanks for the replys, just had a look at the flexishield on this site http://tpwcc.com/flexishield.html. it says it will trip a 32 amp mcb (does that include mcbs below that) and satisfies bs8436 which i assume is what spark123 was quoting, does that mean it can be used instead of a rcd, if the...

    what type of cable

heard a spark talking about a cable, that i assume can be used for say putting a new switch cable down a wall where the circuit is not on a rcd, i want to move a switch and this sounds the easiest way. it seems the cable outer casing is in contact with the earth core throughout its length.is...

    meter tails

thanks steve,do you mean just to the new shower cu or to the original as well, or 25mm from meter to henley, then split 25mm to new shower and leave the original tails to original cu. the original cu is the old wylex rewireable push in fuses, would this take 25mm?

    meter tails

what size meter tails need to be used for a separate shower cu,it will have 10mm cable to the shower. can they be 10mm or do they have to be the same size as the original tails,or do all the tails have to be uprated to 25mm. thanks
