Kitchen mixer tap - loose in Belfast sink

Forgot to get pics.... Yes I think this is there. BUT, on top of these fittings there seems to be a "stub". This rises about 5 mm above the level of the sink. The main tap body then sits on top of this (slides over) and then is secured using a small grub screw that screws through the main tap...

Kitchen mixer tap - loose in Belfast sink

Belfast sink with single mixer tap. Single hole. I can see some sort of "surround" in the hole. But the main mixer tap sits on top and appears to be secure with a grub screw. Trouble is the hole/thread appears to be knackered. Obviously, I can't just screw a normal screw in because there are...

Upstairs radiators hot even though heating is not on

Well its complicated. We had cover with SSE but knew the boiler was on its last legs so had arranged a new boiler only through BG. A week before, the tank split (overheated) and SSE replaced it all. There was an issue at the time I remember that the house builders had put the original tank in...

Upstairs radiators hot even though heating is not on

Had new boiler from British Gas a few months ago with Hive. We've not got a combi but a water tank upstairs. So you need to schedule water and heating. Obviously, in this weather heating is off. (but we still need hot water) Noticed last night that upstairs radiator only were hot. I turned...

Water leak at home - time for electrics to dry out?

Family member had an upstairs water leak which resulted in electics in kitched getting wet. Leak is all sorted now (and power is off). How long before it'll dry and be safe to use (family member has moved in with us temporarily)? Or should we be getting someone in to check? Insurance claim...

    AC - Ford Galaxy

Had it re-gassed a year ago. The other day stopped working. Then it started again and has been off/on ever since. Display shows AC on. Also, when Iturn it off I can hear it starting every time. Took it to halfords. They said machine showed ZERO. But surely it would work not all if this was the...

Not much hot water in tank

Got a hot water tank system. Recently noticed that no matter how long the hot water is set to heat there is much less hot water than there used to be. Runs out really quickly -as if its heating half a tank or something. Anything obvious to look for?

    Shower cut off/timer

Got teenage son who, despite, umpteen warnings is still inclined to spend ages in the shower and use all the hot water. As you can tell, we've got a hot water tank rather than combi boiler. Tank is in airing cupboard next to bathroom. Would there be a cut-off from the pipes into the shower...

Quote - infill exiting external porch

Wall one side, low wall other side (then open). So windows on the one side, replace existing post/corner, door, and infill piece. Quoted £3100 which I think is a bit high?
