Hi, Noticed a small (approx 2 inch’ patch of damp wall adjacent to the bottom right corner of our bay window. Room is recently replastered (dot/ dab), window was the existing one. We have had very heavy winds/ rain last night, so expect that was the cause. Does this tend to be due to defective...

Very damp clay soil along back of house

Hi yeh the dye was poured onto the surrounding soil so represents the ground water. When I dyed the drain a few weeks ago I got less dye under the house. I reckon there's about 2 and 1/2 foot between ground level and the concrete base. Garden flat but the old patio was sloping towards the house...

Architrave when plaster proud of door frame

Yeh, looking at it I won't have to move the door hinges. I'm going to pin some stripwood to the frame, punch the nails in deep then plane down to the level of the frame. That's the plan anyway . Thanks for your help!

Insulating a Bay Window Wall and Ceiling

Hi, cheers for that. By insulate beneath the floorboards do you mean just the timber framed wall section below floorboard level or the actual void made between ceiling of lounge bay and bedroom floorboards? As you can see from earlier pics I've got some insulation in the wall bit only atm. I was...
