    Boiler losing pressure (slowly). Normal?

We removed a small radiator in the living room & ended up bending one of the 10mm copper pipes so water came piddling everywhere. Plumber came out to fix & all was good. Pressure appeared to stay constant. Came time to put the big radiator on in the living room & tightening one nut up i...

Replacing wired alarm system with wireless. Any advice?

We currently have a wired system which must be quite old since the battery has a 1999 date written on it. It's currently disarmed/disabled, whatever you call it :) Anyway, we were considering having a wireless system put in place. We can't remember how to put the current system back together...

Tips on getting doors back on?

I took the doors off to paint the frames some time ago & now it's time to put them back. A lot of the screws were just spinning in their holes so after some YouTubing i found i didn't have to drill them out & dowel up, i just had to buy some wooden golf tees, glue & hammer in, chisel off...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Yeah i see them Kelly Comms vans around here too. So do they not send out a guy to look out the job first so that they know what they need to be doing come work day? Or is that too much to expect? As i guess they'll have a set amount of jobs in the day & a set amount of time to do these...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Pole is on our side but unfortunately it's living room side, not hall. I've just realised I don't actually know how you go about this: Do I contact BT to get everything fibre enabled & a socket installed or do I have to contact the fibre/phone provider (& pay for their deal immediately)...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Pole is outside about 3 or 4 houses down the street. Having said that, when i go tomorrow & look, it'll be more like 6 or 7

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

I had a look today It hits the fascia board at the top of the house & then trails down to the existing (red X) master socket. Couldn't they just trail it across the top of the house & then down to where i want it - the green X? Is is that easier said than done? If so, then how difficult is...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Not a problem paying them. I wasn't aware id have to specify that in this thread but now I have we can all relax :) And difficulty is about knowledge. Nothing is difficult if you know what you're doing. Having never done this before, I don't. How many folk went out in the first round of who...

Why do you get that impression? And for the record - you are wrong :)

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

That's handy that you do this then- So you can go through the time & trouble of wiring in extensions (or singular at least) but you're not allowed to just connect up existing extensions which are already in place & therefore quicker? Unless I'm missing something which I probably am, can't...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Seems a bit computer says no to me. If the wiring currently exists then why not just connect the new master socket to the existing extensions. All this 'not in my job description' nonsense, especially it it's something real quick & easy to do. Will see if the person who comes out is...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Wont they have it on record there's been no phone connected for over a year & want to know why, or are they not that inquisitive? As for the socket in the living room - we don't want it there really. That wall is suffering from damp & we want that sorting. We wonder if water is coming in...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Marvellous - our outside is dashed so watch big chunks come off :( I've since learned 1 cable to 1 socket box & then connecting a switch to this which can feed both the PC & a wireless AP would work just fine. Easy when (someone else) knows how :D

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

In that case i have never seen a fibre modem/router. I was looking on eBuyer & they all say ADSL that i was looking at. I'm wanting to run the PC on a wired connection. My plan is to drill through the floor/ceiling & run a cable to the socket in the hall. That would enable the PC room to be...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Oops I meant specifically one for fibre not for wireless. D'oh. Or do wireless ones cover fibre perfectly fine? I know Sky will provide one but I've read about many people having gripes with it & how it's very poor compared to others.

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Few images for you first... Layout of house... Master socket... We've had the house 12 months now & the phone line has been disconnected all that time. We're looking at being set to move in in January. We're wanting to go for fibre broadband. The master socket is located where...

Problem buying a new radiator. £80 for removal. Ouch.

Needed the rad off today in time for wallpapering which is being done next week. After much YouTubing & online asking i was confident in doing it. Get to the first valve, turn clockwise to close it ...... starts weeping. All confidence now out the window. Open the valve - anti...

Central heating system & inhibitor - vital inclusion or

That's that question answered then. Thanks. Didn't know if it was just a money maker or not. I saw them rad clamps when looking at removing the rad & thought good idea & read up on them & you guys pan them as a waste of money & not needed. Just thought id ask about this stuff too.

Central heating system & inhibitor - vital inclusion or

So as well as the help on the forums i've been having a gander at YouTube on radiator removal & the like & one of the videos mentioned this inhibitor stuff. Then another i saw showed putting it in to the system (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI3S8B7f_vY) Which made me wonder - is it vital...
