Cake Stand - mdf or wood with routered edges?

if you're not wanting to make it yourself, you might want to try places that make trophies/awards. The do stuff like that for the bases they stick trophies to. Just a thought

    Restoring staircase

im no expert but it looks like they were originally open string and they were cut flush to fit on the box work. the ends look rough so I would suggest first trying as you say a bit of molding if you can find the right size, or at the very least a good sanding.

Want to run power to my shed

Hi I've gone and done what I always said I never would and that is to get a patio laid in my garden without first running appropriate cables... I know, I know, I've since come to terms with it. Anyway, I've now got a nice new shed which has no power going to it and I'm looking for a...

En suite with steam shower enclosure

I'm not much of an expert in this area at all, but I am in a similar situation. I'm planning a loft conversion which will include an ensuite shower room so i've been doing a lot of research. I also liked the idea of those steam showers but have yet to find a single person to recommend them...

Hi there, Im about to wall mount a tv in my bedroom and would like to hide all wires in the wall. The power socket and aerial point are directly below where the tv will be mounted. The wall is a stud wall. I'd like to take a spur off the socket below, run the cable inside the wall and...

    Extractor Fan advice needed

hah, yes I see what that looks like. the reply i got suggested that even a cheap fan would last a couple of years. 2 years for £10 isn't that bad in my mind. the vent axias look like they are over £70. that's a big difference.

how to fix shower riser kit

thanks for the replies just so i understand, the plug should go in past the tile so when the screw expands it, it's expanding inside the plasterboard and not the tile. is that right?

Hi I need to fix a shower riser kit (the sliding rail thing the shower head fixes to) in my shower cubicle which has been freshly tiled. the position I want it in is not infront of a joist so I cannot screw into anything solid. I have cavity (stud work) walls. i'm trying to think if the...

    quick question

I tanked over plasterboard. The plaster is very thin in most places. I understand that in the areas that are plastered, there is a danger of that plaster becoming damaged by water in the same way it would if no tanking was used but i'm not really worried about that. Worst case scenario, one...

    quick question

I'm getting a tiler in this week to finish off my en-suite shower. I tanked the whole cubicle with BAL WP1 tanking kit, but didn't realise the walls were not parallel. I had to skim some of the cubicle wall to 'build it up' to square. This has left me with a cubicle which is 60% WP1 and...
