    Shower mixer plate and rings

Solution was to remove the O rings, push the rings through then use a small screwdriver to create some leverage while I pushed the O rings back on once it was through. Seems obvious now

    Shower mixer plate and rings

Hi I was determined today to start prepping bathroom for microcement but have run into a problem with this shower mixer face plate. it has two metal rings that go between the plate and the control but I can’t fit these through the plate! Tried fairy liquid, lever, squeeze, whacking but can’t get...

    Roof verge - repoint?

Thanks. How do you recommend squaring up the verge? Have always avoided working with roof - fear I'll cause more problems

    Roof verge - repoint?

Hi, Back of house rendered and rendered took back mortar on roof verge. Any ideas on best way to fill this gap and make it look tidy? Was thinking expanding foam in the gap and then attempt to cover over with sand:cement mix (3 sand, 1 sharp sand and plasticiser?) I've never done this sort of...

    Chipboard over wet UFH?

hard to say how thick the screed is but I think at least 50mm. A new builder came round today to quote to finish off last builders work and freaked out about the chipboard. He wants to rip out chipboard and screed! I can’t afford the labour or the time but think that it should be left alone...

    Chipboard over wet UFH?

hi, the room is warm but I can’t tell yet whether much of this heat is coming from the screed. Maybe I’m paying too much attention to the feel of the floor but it still has 15mm engineered wood floor to go over the top. no spreader plates. Standard PIR with pipes clipped into the top. No channels.

    Chipboard over wet UFH?

Hi, Midway through refurb with some heating concerns. I’ve had UFH put in. Part of downstairs is concrete, insulation with screed over UFH. Nice and hot. However, 75% of downstairs is joisted. I was worried by builder and plumbers plans to put UFH in here. They’ve put insulation between...

    Remove self-levelling screed?

My builder forgot to place a wet room shower tray and waste tray (downstairs) before having self-levelling screed poured over UFH-DPM-insulation. Is it now possible to remove the screed in that area and place the wet room shower tray there? UFH pipes not underneath area for shower tray. Builder...

    Subfloor soakaway issue

I've thought about creating a French drain from interior to exterior (gravity-led) but I fear drying out the clay-soil too much and causing problems with the foundation so will probably stick with the plastic soakaway route and then put a French drain in the front garden in case it's surface...

    Subfloor soakaway issue

Hi, I've read lots of threads with similar problems to this issue but still struggling to find a solution. Context...I live in a 1930s semi on a hillside. Some neighbours have reported have soggy gardens/water under floorboards and one neighbour has a pipe in their garden which gushes...

    Flooding subfloor 1930s semi

I think I've ruled out it being connected to drainage. Helpful neighbour on other side ran hose into their gully and I looked into manhole for foul sewer (also under patio) but no sign of the water from rainwater gully at all. Downpipe is directly next to our house so access is easy...

    Flooding subfloor 1930s semi

Hi, Floorboards up for some structural building work and found almost half a foot of rainwater underneath house. It doesn't smell so I suspected it might be a leaking rainwater pipe. Our neighbour has a gully that collects the rainwater from both our roofs. The downpipe is on his side. I put...

Low temp Biasi m90.24s (not heat ex? bypass problem?)

Hi, My Biasi m90.24s has a flow of 10l, shows 70 degrees on the dial, DHW temperature switch turned to max but temperature is around 45 degrees - but I'm sure it's smaller than that sometimes - showers are not good anymore. I replaced the DHW heat exchanger a year ago. Important: The diverter...

HW only when CH running - combi

TITLE should now be : NO HW at all Biasi m9024s: I removed and cleaned the secondary heat exchanger with some sulphuric acid (this has previously been done by an engineer and once before by myself). Replaced it but now it is not lighting when HW is running. I can hear the pump working. CH is...

Radiator warm at top, luke warm at bottom

One of my 6 radiators is only warm at the top and lukewarm at the bottom half. I've bled it (I know that's for cold at the top but thought it was worth a try). I don't think this is worth flushing for one radiator, as the others are hot. The pipe going up to the TRV is hot. Should I take the...

    Shed base problems

Hi everyone, Yesterday I took a rotten shed down, pulled up a tree stump that had caused the base to slope. The base seems to be hardcore (large bits of broken brick etc) and earth. I tried my best to make this level with a spirit level, plank of wood and rake and some sand. When I put the...
