    Kitchen

Just wanted to say how nice that kitchen looks! It looked good when I first saw it, but the before and after pics really show it off. Bet you're well proud - Only hope I do a decent job like this when I come to do mine soon. Well done.

playing burnt dvd on any dvd player or computer

As already posted I would say: 1. Make sure burnt as a proper dvd (Video_TS folder present and data in there) 2. Try different types of 'media' (brands DVD blanks) some players like certain brands more than others. 3. Make sure session is finalised - Otherwise prob will only play on PC...

    Improving my 'skimming'

Ooh, another reply - I am popular lol. Yes, covers off the sockets (and power off). Now when you say dont use joint filler on boards, how much of a don't is that? Reason I ask is that I have already done this on 90% of the house as I've been trying to prep in stages and didn't want too...

    Improving my 'skimming'

Cheers for the full reply Richard - Very helpful. I did Pi$$ coat under the stairs which was the first place I tried skimming. I think I got the mix wrong though as I used 1/2 emulsion, 1/2 water - but it seemed ok after a couple of coats of this - Still yet to paint it properly though...

    Improving my 'skimming'

Yea, was using the joint filler on all edges where one board meets another and for the wall-ceiling which as they are soundboard are tapered (dont think they do normal edge in the knauff one?). I thought it cracks if you dont use the skrim? Also I think it was about a bag on the first...

    Improving my 'skimming'

Hi all. Firstly a big thanks to the forum for giving me the all the tips/tricks I need to 'skim' my walls. I just want to make sure that I'm doing everything ok as I am currently waiting for the first box room to dry and wont really know if its any good until painted. Walls were taken...

digging out a small tree stump

As per everyone else really, dig as much as you can, cut as many roots as poss then wiggle wiggle in all directions. In our case we could hear other roots snapping as you push the trunk in opposing directions (try and get the top of the trunk to the floor as much as possible). I was using my...

    PIR Recomendations

I was recommended those and have subsequently bought them for my new Texecom 24 system. For the garage I did buy the Texecom Dual Tech though as it will reduce the amount of false triggers with temperature differences. Can't really say how good they are as I'm still setting it up in between...

    Building Notice advice

Hi all, Thought I'd ask a quick Q on here before calling the council building peeps. I have just bought a house which some time ago had a rear extension approx 10ftx16ft which was in timber which was used as a kitchen. When I bought the house it was recommended to remove this and...

    Premier 24 Alarm Heeeeelp

Just bought one of these myself and ask a few q's regarding fitting. The zones 1/2 on the keypad are extra zones that you can use if need be, giving you 4x extra zones if you have 2x keypads. Apparently once connected you just use the keypad to allocate the zone numbers for the extra...

    Texecom 24 install help please..

Cheers Sparkymarka As the keypad is by the front door and I have already wired all the cabling into the control box and plastered over it I think the best option for me would be the normally closed option. So 2x panics to Z8, no resistors for panics and wired 1 wire to 'SP' and other to...

    Texecom 24 install help please..

One last question please if I may...... As stated, I'm using EOL wiring. I have filled up 7x zones with PIR's and wanted to use Zone 8 for the panic button. The problem being, I have 2x of them. Can I just connect both to the one zone bearing in mind the rest is EOL? Also would I then...

    Texecom 24 install help please..

Just an update on this for anyone else reading with similar issues - The Com unit does plug straight onto the main Control box. It plugs into the connector on the right labelled 'UK'. Being a computer geek, originally I thought that the connector was actually a IC 'Bios type chip'. The 'UK'...

    Texecom 24 install help please..

Wow, thanks for the quick replies :) Hope you have had a good bank holiday. I'll look at this again tomorrow hopefully all will be clearer then, maybe I was looking too hard and the saying 'woods for the trees' applies :) So a pair for power and a pair for the PIR it is then. I'll be...

    car spoiler

On the misses's Fiesta Zetec S, it is held on by a bold at each end, then some adhesive black double sided tape (heavy duty). I know this as some fecker nicked hers a few months ago. The bolts are on the boot itself so dont get removing any roof headlining!

    Multifinish Vs. Board Finish

Hi Richard, cheers for your full response. I found out about this 25% thing after I had bared all the walls - But to be fair every wall was blown anyways so would have needed to come off anyhow. If I've read your post right, does the 25% thing only relate to external walls as I haven't...

    Alarm cabling

oops, missed a bit out, meant to say with soundboard. Thought that was the easiest option as I didnt want to re plaster and wanted to sound deaden it at same time a little without losing too much space. Any advice on the cabling please?

    Alarm cabling

Hi all, I've recently dot and dabbed my walls and want to get the cabling for my alarm in now so it can be hidden nicely under the plaster. I was going to situate the control box under the stairs and just run the cablin along walls to it. Are there any things I have to avoid doing? Do...

    Multifinish Vs. Board Finish

Hi all, Just bared all walls in house to brick (as plaster was blown everywhere) and dot and dabbed soundboard to them. I'll be skrim taping the weekend and prob by next week should be ready to start skimming. Am new to 'plastering' but have just tried a fireplace and it turned out ok...
