    DIY alarms

Well thanks guys for all your replies. I personally like wireless stuff - which is why I asked this question. Obviously an alarm going wrong would be the most annoying. I have wirless Broadband which was rubbish on one make of device but great on another - I'm guessing wirless alarms fall into...

    Fitting Window Contacts

Joe Are you talking about alarms in general or just window contacts? I personally dealt with my fear of crime long before I was born, but them some rat bag goes and steals my car keys, still no fear of crime, but I am sick to death of insurance companies trying to sort that out....

    DIY alarms

Thanks Breezer Are you saying the DIY wireless ones are of no use or all wireless ones? Scantronic have a wireless range that looks interesting. Sorry to harp on about wireless but I don't want to be running cables everywhere if I can avoid it - this is the modern wireless age after all :)

    DIY alarms

Can anyone recommend a DIY alarm for a mid terraced house? Are the wireless ones from B&Q or Screwfix any good? Cheers

    Noisey Potterton Puma

I didn't for one minute assume anyone was stupid! Presumably the fan is on there for some reason, such as making the boiler work better? I guess it's there to improve the efficiency of combustion?

    Noisey Potterton Puma

God knows, I'm not a bleeding plumber - boiler seems to working a bit better, perhaps that was the result of the service - how the heck should I know? All I asked was what is likely to be causing the noise?

    Noisey Potterton Puma

    Noisey Potterton Puma

I just had my boiler serviced and they replaced the fan. This does seem to have improved pressure in the upstairs bathroom. But it still very noisey when running. Sort of a load gurgling?? Anything else that would cause this? And is it actually a problem? Thanks Andy

    LV downlights and Part P

I reckon it conforms, I think those are one light per transformer though. Got one from B&Q that had five lamps to one transformer which meant I could connect it the the existing fitting in the bathroom and (I think) not be notifiable.

    My Christmas Lights 2007

Nowt wrong with Christmas lights!!! As for renewable resources though... If anyone comes up with something that is actually usable the world will be a better place! Solar is usless in this country. Wind is impractical unless we turn the whole of Wales into a wind farm, bio-diesel is fine unless...

electrician won't issue electrical installation cert -help?!

Note on indemnity insurance. You cannot get this if you have contacted the LA in anyway regarding your installation, even if it's just an enquiry - they will usually keep this on record.

    Hydrogen in rads!!

Well I never knew it was hydrogen that filled up raditors to make them cold - just thought it was air. Anyway this is apparently why: Even where there is a positive pressure, yet no leakage of water, there may still be contact with the atmosphere, the surface tension of the water may be...

    Height of bathroom floor waste

Sounds like a wet room, which is the norm in Oz. These guys are also suprised to find toilets in the same room as the bath, they think that's weird. If only we had all the space for big houses with seperate rooms for everything...

Hi I need to make some straight cuts in a few travertine floor tiles, for my bathroom. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to do this? How hard is it cut shapes (e.g. around pipes). Also I will be laying these onto weatherproof plywood which I have screwed to the wood floor. Which adhesive...
