PS
Was in my local Tile Giant today and was advised by the tile 'salesman' (former painter and decorator he told me) to just emulsion the bathroom plaster and all will be well. Naturally, I nodded my head yet thought of what advise you'd kindly given me already. Would this be the same...
Thanks.
The plasterer didn't tell me whether it was MR PB or not. I doubt it, so moving forward, apart from pulling it all down and restarting, what should I do, please?
How and what should I use to 'tank' the wet areas, please?
Thanks, again.
Thanks, Richard.
It is new plaster, mainly over plasterboard. It has been up around 4 weeks now and appears to be thoroughly dried.
The walls in the wet areas are made of brick but again have been plasterboarded and skimmed.
The large tiles weigh about 13kg.
What adhesives/grouts...

Do I need to mist the plaster before tiling, please?
What adhesive and grout should I use, please...

Hi.
Previous bath was straight and I'd be reluctant to go with a coffin bath.
It's a brand new Vaillant. Not sure on model but it's a good one and have been advised by a plumber that there's plenty of pressure for the shower
I've cleared all out but was thinking, before I block-up the hole, could the plasterer not plasterboard the entire fireplace and skim it. Leave a small air hole as I am planning on fitting an electric flame effect fire with the fixings being wider than the hole?
Hi.
We have a small bathroom (around 6ft x 6ft) and am looking for a good quality new bathroom suite.
After reading many forums, I've now concluded that you get what you pay for so have decided against a big-chain budget range for £200 and am now looking at upto £600.
Naturally, I wish...
My plasterer said he didn't know what to do with the old fireplace hole.
The old fireplace has gone leaving just the hole. However, it seems to have been bricked-up and filled in with cement. More poured in and just left.
I want teh entire fireplace replastering to allow for an electric...
Advise replacing an internal kitchen door for a stud wall???
I have two doorways into my kitchen so to maximise the space I have decided to lose one internal doorway.
The kitchen has been gutted and am awaiting the plasterer to start.
He advised me that he would plaster-board over the...
Thanks for such a quick reply.
Is that something that a novice like me could fix or should i be either looking at getting someone in to fix-it or is it a new machine?
Thanks again.
Hi.
The belt keeps coming-off but it looks fine. I have put it as far away to stop it from slipping-off.
Also, there is a loud noise when spinning as though there is a piece of metal being thrown aroudn inside the drum. Naturally, there isn't so could that be something to do with the...
Thanks.
I've amended my original message to incluse the other SDS that I was talking about.
The other you show looks fine but I simply don't know which is the best one. ie Won't fall apart after 6 months unless they all will.
Thank-you.
Hi.
After being made redundant as an alarm engineer I'm doing a few jobs on the side to keep me going.
Therefore, I'm after a well-priced, corded SDS drill.
So far, I've found these three...
Nothing wrong with the existing joists, just that they will not be strong enough to support the floor in a regularly used room. OK for light storage.
As for T & G, that's just chipboard with a neater finish.
Materials will cost nowhere near what you've described, however I notice you live...
Hi.
Upon moving into our new house, and with the impending arrival of our new baby, I put chipboard onto the existing joists merely to provide storage space.
However, we are now running out of space fast and frankly I need to maximise the house space by using the loft for a 'proper' room...
