Hi.

After being made redundant as an alarm engineer I'm doing a few jobs on the side to keep me going.

Therefore, I'm after a well-priced, corded SDS drill.

So far, I've found these three:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7110869/Trail/searchtext>SDS+DRILL.htm

http://www.power-tools-pro.co.uk/ma...r-sdsplus-chuck-18mm-p-3913.html?currency=GBP

Which is the best, please and will it last, please? Really can't go much above my budget of £40 - £70.

I'm naturally drawn to the Makita but am thinking at only 400W it may not be powerful enough to get through thick concrete or stone.

Opinions welcome and any other recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Ian

Thanks.

I've amended my original message to incluse the other SDS that I was talking about.

The other you show looks fine but I simply don't know which is the best one. ie Won't fall apart after 6 months unless they all will.

Thank-you.

Id go for a blue Bosch or a makita im sure you could find one for around £70 ish maybe try eBay seen some good deals on new tools there.

I have two of the one in your first link, I've used one to renovate my house, chipping mortar off and drilling holes in the stone walls, even using one to remove stones to make a hole through the three feet thick walls. I'm trying to kill them so that I can buy a Bosch GBH, but they won't die. If you look in the supermarkets you can find the same drill cheaper, although I bought the first one from screwfix I found the second in the sales for ten euros.

I bought a ebauer drill from screwfix quite cheap about 2 yrs ago. It doesn't get regular use but when it does its for 16 and 25mm masonry drilling and gets treated quite badly. Never let me down, does the job. I think most corded SDS drills will do a reasonable job, and unless your using it all day long just get something cheap.
