Hive not turning on Vaillant EcoTec plus 832

Thanks for your reply. Yes it needs setting at this to fire up. So does that mean the Hive is not compatible with it or is there something that needs to be done?

Hive not turning on Vaillant EcoTec plus 832

Hi there, I have a Vaillant EcoTec plus 832 boiler and a Hive system in the property. The Hive unit does seem to work and connect fine with the Hive Hub, the app, the receiver and the thermostat. When I turn the heating on via the Hive, the boiler clicks and the green light on the Hive receiver...

Changing from Rose to LED Light

Thanks for the replies. So I completed this today and used a Wago connector for the loop (as pictured), two black neutrals with the neutral and added a red sleeve as you suggested for the live. All working okay. Attached shows the picture of the connections. When you mean class 2, is this a issue?

Changing from Rose to LED Light

Hi all. I want to replace an existing ceiling rose with a more modern pendant light. The LED light has a live and neutral and no earth as it is double insulated. See attached photo - the ceiling rose currently has 2 black wires in N and one black wire in L. There are then 3 red wires in Loop...

Safe to run a shower pump off a smart / remote controlled socket?

Hi All, Just needed a bit of safety assistance. Long story short, I have a shower pump up in the loft, directly in between 2 bedrooms. It is connected to the normal plug socket up in the loft also. As I get home really late from work sometimes, having a shower at night means waking the whole...

Damaged electric cable - Best way to repair?

Thanks for the replies. So after a nightmare of trying to find a leccy who will actually do it (5 in total declined as they are so busy) I managed to find someone who said rewiring is not necessary. He basically put an accessible flush box with a blanking plate on top and joined the wires...

Damaged electric cable - Best way to repair?

A bit further back, but yes you are correct. The builder replaced the doors and architraves and this is why this happened. I agree, it doesn't seem to be in the right place which is why I don't blame the builder to be fair. I had a emergency leccy out who made it safe temporarily using some...

Damaged electric cable - Best way to repair?

So I called one electrician and he said electrical tape is fine and that is how he would repair it. I've called another who is coming out to me as he didn't inspire me with confidence and frankly I can do that myself. Question is how should that be repaired in the ideal situation? Except for...

Damaged electric cable - Best way to repair?

So I managed to pull the wire out a bit, it has enough flex. Please see photo attached. You can see the red wires sheathing has split slightly and there is a slight graze to the copper earth, which you can see shining through in the pic. The cable looks whole so I didn't want to do a cut and...

Damaged electric cable - Best way to repair?

Hi All, Thanks for the replies. So the wiring is probably pre-2000s and isn't to current standards. I don't think it is 150mm away from the door frame. Basically you have two door frames and a wall in between that is probably 100mm in width. The doors are next to the frame but one wire (this...

Damaged electric cable - Best way to repair?

Hi All, Just needed some advice. A carpenter is currently replacing doors in my house and whilst replacing door frames he found that there was a unprotected bunch of cables that he accidently hit. It has damaged the sheath. We didn't realise at the time, but it was powering a plug socket in...

Built-in Microwave 2 pin plug issue

Thanks. Unfortunetely as the kitchen is adapted to the microwave I can't return it and I've had it lying around for 3 months unopened. So do you guys reckon its just this converter plug that is poor and if I cut and wire a plug in it will be ok given the ratings. As its not a plug you can...

Built-in Microwave 2 pin plug issue

Hello. Wondering if anyone can offer some advise on what to do. So I purchased a new Built-in Microwave from a retailer which came with a moulded 2 pin Schuko plug. I believe it has pins at the top and bottom that are earth pins. The item came with a plug converter in the box (which I was a...

Alarm Panel/Keypad recommendations to replace old Gardtec

Hi All, So currently I have a Gardtec 370 mk2 alarm panel in my new property. It is fully functional but I’d like to add some form of remote alert feature and remote arming. My plan is to simply update the panel and keypad, as the PIR Sensors and hard wiring is all there. The bell box is a...

Changing 8VAC Bell Transformer to 24VAC Transformer

Hi. I currently have a really old doorbell (probably pre '80s) which is powered by a 8v Friedland 752 Wall mounted bell transformer, fitted just above the consumer unit. I am upgrading to a Ring Pro Door Bell and understand that to hardwire it I need to fit a 24VAC transformer. Currently the...

Vaillant ThermoCompact Boiler issue - no hot water

Unfortunately the BG cover doesn't cover it. They came to service the boiler but the stat giving up was coincidental but they still replaced it. The boiler and tank is doing its job now so I'm trying to find out what could cause low pressure other than these too that I can look into.

Vaillant ThermoCompact Boiler issue - no hot water

Thanks for the replies. So I've had bit of success... I turned the boiler off and on again and it is now reading 61 degrees, roughly the same as the cylinder stat. I got hot water running again last night and this morning it turned on fine. So I think hot water is ok now. The only issue now...
