Car trailer parked on my private road - how to get it removed

OK I just did that.. asked one of the neighbours anyway (the guy in the know!) So it turns out that it belongs to an elderly couple.. the guys that have a garage and are unaffected by the turning circle... they just drive straight in. I know them (kind of). They are a lovely old couple who...

Car trailer parked on my private road - how to get it removed

Only two of the other neighbours bring their cars into their 'garden'/garage. One doesn't have to negotiate the bend because of their house position, the other has a small car (although they would find turning much easier if the trailer wasnt there!) Having said that, any work van would have...

Car trailer parked on my private road - how to get it removed

there is an actual issue, it makes it difficult for me to get out (although I can, just a bit awkward) By the way the road isn't a straight line, it has a 90 degree bend and and the turning area is at the bend. I own the road - I have the Land Registry deeds for it. Legally I cant block it...

Car trailer parked on my private road - how to get it removed

There is a car trailer parked on my private road. It is an access road to several properties so by law I have to keep it clear (i.e. I cant park my car in the middle of it). However somebody has chained their car trailer at the turning circle area. I think it must be one of the neighbours. How...

Should I DIY install windows or not? *PICS*

Thanks Notch, you clearly know what you're talking about. Well done figuring all that out from the pictures. Feeling a bit nervous about DIY-ing it, these old houses always throw a spanner in the works! I've asked a professional to come in.. ball park he said £800-900 per window.. but will give...

Should I DIY install windows or not? *PICS*

Looking to replace the first floor windows of my old house (build ~1900). They're all sash windows, but thought I'd start with the smallest one first. Do you think this is a job I can undertake (just this one window for now? - 1400mm x 1000mm = HxW). I have DIY skills - do my own plumbing, etc...

Main cut out fuse rating verification

They are 25mm tails. Which leads me to think it may indeed be 100a

Main cut out fuse rating verification

My reasons for wanting to know are curiosity and also planning of future installations. Eg EV charger, shower, electric Vs gas hob

Main cut out fuse rating verification

The main cut out fuse has a 100A label on it. Is there any way I can verify that is correct by myself? (i.e. without calling anyone out)

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

@davecon70 can you post pictures please? Of the boiler and any pipework My money's on the installer having screwed up in the first place. He probably didn't do a pipe size calculation and just hooked it up to the old supply without checking.

Bonding on pipe that's been cut

no it's not a 'replacement' per se, it's a brand new supply - with a separate exterior stop cock. So at the moment I have two supplies coming into the house with two separate exterior stop cocks; one that is metered one that is not. The old lead supply and the new MDPE supply. The new MDPE...

Bonding on pipe that's been cut

The garden tap is supplied through the old lead supply. The rest of the house is now supplied via the new MDPE. The garden tap always had a dedicated tee off the lead supply (i.e. tees off before the main stop cock in the house) So, even under the old lead supply, if I turned off the main stop...

Bonding on pipe that's been cut

OK the house has a bit of a strange situation. So the lead water supply seems to tee off under ground. so the main branch comes into the house, has a stop cock and is bonded. The other route goes straight to an extension and only feeds an outside tap. That has it's own stop cock and is not...

Bonding on pipe that's been cut

yes that is possible. TBH I'm not quite sure of the technicalities behind bonding, equi-potential and earthing + I don't know what the differences are + I'm not sure how it it makes things safer. All I know is that it's related to safety. @flameport - have you got a video where you explain all this?

Bonding on pipe that's been cut

No, unfortunately the gas pipe is not close. Although, that may change because we are thinking of installing a gas hob in the kitchen. The lead pipe protrudes about 10 cm and there is some copper attached to it. So I could just reposition the bonding back on to the old pipe

Bonding on pipe that's been cut

There's a bonding clip on a copper pipe that was connected to a lead supply. The lead supply pipe is now redundant and the water is supplied by a new MDPE pipe. However the lead pipe is still in place so the copper pipe was cut just before it joined the lead and a stop end was attached Now...
