    Noisy toilet flush, moaning sound

Hello - For the last while my toilet has been making an annoying noise each time it is flushed and the cistern refills. The toilet downstairs does not make any noise and nor do any of the taps in the house. I've read numerous suggestions here and elsewhere that the solution may be as simple...

Diplomat Select 620 - Grill stopped working

After many years of service, the grill has decided not to cook my dinner tonight. Everything else works fine, fan oven, lights, hob, etc., but the grill refuses to heat up on either of the two available settings. I'd like to assume that it's only the element that's done and replace it, but...

    Slow-filling cistern

Thanks charnwood - just found this thread - http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1294128#1294128 - which looks like the very same problem as mine, confirmed as a Siamp. About to go do some cleaning.

    Slow-filling cistern

Hello - Having been installed many years ago and operated without any problems since, the cistern in the toilet downstairs has begun to fill really slowly, with water spraying from a presumably broken component inside. The picture below hopefully shows the offending part circled. It...

    New roof, membrane

Having my slate roof replaced and it's not as painless as I was led to believe. A number of things seem to have been overlooked or botched, the main consequence being it raining into my loft and then into my daughter's bedroom yesterday. That's another story...my query for now is about the...

    Kitchen lights failing...

Given that the lights provided years of illumination at the flick of a switch, I'd say they were among the most useful of designs! I'll admit that they were never the most beautiful lights, but I didn't get to pick them. :) Many thanks to all for your advice. With the state of the lights as...

    Kitchen lights failing...

What would cost £15? What's the problem and why is it a hassle to fix? I did say clueless, but in the interests of learning...

    Kitchen lights failing...

Hi, After years of trouble-free use, the row of three lights on my kitchen ceiling have started to act up. One of the lights has a separate problem of one of the wire having come free from the "adaptor" into which the bulb is plugged - probably caused by the plastic hinge having loosened...

    Dimplex electric fire not working

Yes, unfortunately - it doesn't make a difference when I tried it with two other sockets. The TV works fine in the socket that the fire takes normally. :(

    Dimplex electric fire not working

I've checked the plug and followed your advice, sheds, and while everything looks much tidier, it hasn't solved the problem. As it sounds like a connection problem, should I try to check the wires at the other end of the cable, i.e. take the back of the fire and see if anything is loose there?

    Dimplex electric fire not working

Hello, After almost 5 years of fault free use, my Dimplex heater has stopped working - just in time for the first cold! The model is a "Navarra NAV15P Pebble" (links at bottom) and there are some symptoms that have me baffled. The fire has the usual flame effect driven by a small motor and...
