Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

OK, this time it got to 3.2 before turning the gas off (pump still running of course). The pressure reached 3.2 but there was no water from the discharge pipe.

Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

There is a pipe out the wall behind the boiler, is that it? I did not look, and I stopped the boiler as it got over 3.0 because I was concerned. I will rerun the test and look for water.

Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

Thank you for replying so quickly! I topped it to 1.5 (it had gone down to 0.9 since last night), and then set the boiler thermostat to 7 and switched it on. Temp climbed from 30deg to 70deg over about 15mins and pressure climbed to 3.1. At that point I turned the boiler thermo down to 5 and the...

Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

Hi, I have an ageing Vaillant Turbomax 282e. Recently it's started requiring the water pressure to be topped up much more recently. Reading around it seems like there are two main possiblities, a leak in the pipework, or something I don't yet understand to do with air pressure in an expansion...

Boiler cutting in and out every 15s

If I run the hot tap on the sink by the boiler, the burner runs constantly, no cutting out, even if I turn the temp to max. I suspect it's a combination of the warm weather meaning the cold supply is warmer than normal, and the shower being two stories up, leading to a lower flow. We do...

Boiler cutting in and out every 15s

Is this normal behaviour for a combi when supplying hot water? The burners light, it runs for about 15s, then the burners stop. 10s later it reignites, and the cycle continues. This is while supplying a shower two floors up. I'm guessing it's because there is insufficient pressure to give a big...

    Adding doors to kitchen cupboards

Thanks! Pilot holes will help keep things true as well, and I've heard of people dipping screws in pva for mdf so I'll do that. Doors will be 18mm so hopefully enough strength there.

    Adding doors to kitchen cupboards

They look ok, can they be used with MDF?

    Adding doors to kitchen cupboards

I was afraid that would be the answer! I don't have a router and my chiselling is atrocious.

    Adding doors to kitchen cupboards

I want to add doors to some open cupboards in my kitchen (see picture) but I can't figure out how to do the hinges because the frame is quite wide. The usual concealed hinges would have the doors set away from the edge of the cupboard, which would look untidy. I could address that by adding some...

Convert big internal doors to bifold by cutting in half

Thanks, sounds like a non starter then. Are there any sliding rail systems that could be retro fitted? Ideally allowing the doors to sit in the frame.

Convert big internal doors to bifold by cutting in half

They have a 1m radius swing and there are large items of furniture in the way.

Convert big internal doors to bifold by cutting in half

Old Victorian house, two living rooms divided by two large doors (2.5 x 1m). Doors are solid wood, four panels with cross bars (10cm). They are a bugger to open so I'm thinking of making them into bifolds by cutting vertically down the centre bar and adding hinges. Would this work? I'm worried...

    Washing machine shock absorber

Hi, Trying to diagnose a Bosch WM that spins with a lot of vibration and noise. I've got the dampers of, and both have a little free play - about 5mm. Is this normal? Thanks.

    Replacing TRV

Thanks, so trial and error for draining it is. Those converter heads are the wrong bit for me, it's the valve body i need. I think I have compression joints.

    Replacing TRV

Pin was indeed stuck. Wiggled, pushed, pulled, accidentally removed it. Pushed it back in a hurry, tiny amount of water. It has no springiness and won't push any further.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Couple more clarifications before I head off to Screwix: Thanks oldbuffer!

    Replacing TRV

Hi, A very old Drayton TRV3 has failed closed, I need to replace it. I don't fancy the pipe freeze method, so as I understand it I need to drain the system. I have read the wiki but still have some uncertainty 1. Do I need to drain the whole system? It's a combI with filling loop. 2. Do I...
