    Compatible flush valve

Top panel with flush button comes off yes, but bottom panel directly behind pan doesn't pull up & off. It's fixed in place by 6 of these plus 4 dowels... You can't pull it off without first disconnecting & removing pan. Bad design, as with so much stuff Victorian Plumbing seem to sell...

    Compatible flush valve

As you can see the whole basin top has to come off to replace anything. If I'm replacing the whole flush valve, including connection at the base of the cistern I also need to remove the pan, take off the front panel of toilet unit to get access to unscrew it. The pan is an absolute b*stard to...

    Compatible flush valve

Because to replace the whole thing would be a nightmare. It's a back to wall pan unit with an adjoining basin unit that share a top and very limited access. To replace the whole lot I'd have to remove basin, toilet & all connections. Dropping in a new valve to existing connector would be far...

    Testing heating elements

Thanks again for the replies, just got off a plane to find them. The off peak storage heater is 2.6kw. The separate peak "top up" radiant panel is 0.39kw (this kicks in during the day as & when needed to maintain temperature when the bricks lose heat). The 0.39kw panel works fine, it's just the...

    Testing heating elements

Thanks. Set the meter to that, applied points to the cables attached to heating elements. Getting a reading of 22-23 in all 3 elements.

    Testing heating elements

Thanks for the replies. When it first failed I didn't have my multimeter, it was at a property I'm working on in another part of the country and wasn't getting it back anytime soon, didn't want to buy another just for this and wanted to get this fixed asap as it's winter. New stat was only £17...

Same setting to check power to the control module. Should I be using a different setting?

    Testing heating elements

Hi Posted a while back about a faulty storage heater. I've replaced the thermostat and cut off, but it's still not working. I tested with a multimeter, there's power going into the control module (both peak and off peak supplies), but I can't get a reading on the cables that attach to the off...

    Replacing porch uPVC panel

Hi I need to replace one of the uPVC panels on my porch, only trouble is I can't get the beading off to get the old one out. Any tips on doing this without damaging anything?

    uPVC porch panel cover up

Think it's meant to, it's just a very tight fit and I don't want to damage the beading trying. I'll ask over there, thanks.

    uPVC porch panel cover up

Thanks, but I think those are 'pvc' sheets, rather than 'upvc' sheets. I was told pvc was no good for it as it wasn't UV stable and its a different material to what is used in windows/doors/conservatory panels?

    uPVC porch panel cover up

Hi, I have a upvc panel in my porch that has an old cat flap. Want to remove cat flap and replace upvc panel with a new one, but I can't get the old panel out, the strips that hold it in place are rock solid, I'll damage them if I try any more. Anyone know of anywhere that sells upvc sheets that...

Warm insulation over existing felt flat roof

Cheers. I'll try and screw into joists if I can, it'll always make for a firmer hold than through ceiling boards and a neater job. I'll pull the rest of the ceiling plasterboard down & replace it all, do I need to worry about adding a vcl/vapour barrier or anything?

Warm insulation over existing felt flat roof

Thanks. My only real reason for raising the pitch is so that it's not classed as a flat roof for the insurance, I read insurers don't like them. I guess it's not a major problem though, for the cost & effort involved it probably isn't worth it. I was thinking just fixing the Kingspan down with...
