Bathroom light switch/cable in stud wall

Thanks spark123, the LABC are already notified, so no worries on that part. In that case I think i'll go for the outside switch, its a bit neater IMO. And thanks for confirming my thoughts on the RCD details.

Towel rail pipes in stud wall

Because the sole plate is sitting ontop of three joists, so i'd have to drill down through the joists, vertically, which I very much doubt you're allowed to do?

Bathroom light switch/cable in stud wall

Is it modern practice to instead of fitting a ceiling pull cord switch, to fit the light switch on the outside bathroom wall? this will be on an ensuite. Also when running the cable to the light switch, inside the stud wall, am i correct in reading the regs, that because it won't be 50mm...

New Stud Wall that will be tiled

I've put studs on 450mm centres, and there are two noggins in each section, so its split into three, if that makes sense. The ceiling is a standard 2.4m Do you think thats enough?

Towel rail pipes in stud wall

I've in the process of building a stud wall to seperate my ensuite from the main bedroom. Onto this stud wall will be mounted a towel rail, my builders put a triple joist in where the stud wall is going, i've screwed the sole plate onto the top of this, i've also added extra noggins to take the...

New Stud Wall that will be tiled

I'm just building a stud wall in my extension to create the wall between the ensuite and bedroom. I've built it using 3x2 CLS timber, but one of the people helping me suggested it wasn't man enough if I was planning on tiling the wall, as it might flex. Is this right? Instead of...

Recomend a shower for a combi boiler

I've found a Grohe wirless one for the same kind of money as the aqualisa one now, so need to decide which is best, I think the Grohe has more control, seems like a good bit of kit.

Recomend a shower for a combi boiler

Where did you find it for that price? Seems very cheap. I do like the idea of one of them, just wasnt sure how good they were. Is the temp control consistant? Thanks

Recomend a shower for a combi boiler

I'm putting a new bathroom into my extension, and as part of this i want a really good shower. The boiler is a vaillant 837 so has a good DHW flow rate. I assume its best to still to the likes of Bristan, Mira etc...? Any particular recomendations? Thanks

There Must Be Something Out There That Will Drill My Walls!

The makita SDS drills seem to be very good, I bought a dewalt to replace it, as I wanted a chisel action, the dewalt burnt out within a month. Just bought a second hand Bosch pro one to replace the makita, as again it has the chisel action. The makitas go quite cheap on ebay too, less than £50...

    Makita 6270 12V drill/impact driver

Thanks for that, but the makita one is the same price, so I think that would make more sense really.

    Makita 6270 12V drill/impact driver

Mainly due to cost, to get the equivilant dewalt would cost around £50 more. And tbh i'm a little disappointed with the dewalt reliability. My SDS drill burnt out, and went back for a refund as they couldnt replace due to not having any in stock. The brushes in my XRP 18 volt are knackered...

    Makita 6270 12V drill/impact driver

I'm considering getting a kit of a makita 6270 12v drill, and impact driver, seems pretty good value for money. But it only includes 1.3ah nicad batts, does anyone know if the 2ah or nimh batts will be compatible? if so I can get them at a later date when funds allow. I'm only really going to...

    Two Storey Extension

I beleive it was £250, in total there were 7 of them here. Im not exactly sure of its size, but its HUGE, i think its the biggest roll off skip you can have (footprint wise) due to its size I dont think you're allowed them on the road, but i could be wrong.

Not bad progress, still a hell of a lot of work ahead though.

    TV Aerial Overhanging Boundary

Ive currently got it in the loft and the signal is quite poor, we're in a fairly low signal area. There is another wall which I could mount the aerial on, however then it would be overhanging the neighbours roof, and would mean needing access onto his roof to install the aerial. The property...

    TV Aerial Overhanging Boundary

Not sure if this is really the right section for this question but couldnt decide which would be best. I wish to install an external aerial on my property, the only sensible wall to mount it to, would mean it would be overhanging the boundary. The edge of the house is right up to the...

Volex CUs now in B&Q for 40 quid

At my local one, they have a Wylex one complete with 10 double sockets for £69 iirc, which works out slightly cheaper than screwfix, not bad IMO.
