Splitting live light feed within switch

One of my two gang switches has a link wire between the two commons and a neutral present so the second outbound wire is just a live, neutral and earth to the light fitting. Is this just another way of doing it as I thought the live should be looped at the fittings and then two switch wires to...

Presenting a lighting circuit on a face plate

The cabinets will be wall mounting so the outlets will be fairly high up. Both solutions are available in the MEM stainless steel range so unless anyone else has a thought I'll just pick one of those.

Presenting a lighting circuit on a face plate

I want to have a lighting circuit put in to feed cabinet lights in a bedroom. I don't just want a wire coming out of the wall. Which faceplate should be used? i.e. a switched fused cable outlet or something else?

    Finishing cabinets with high gloss

I want to apply a high gloss spray finish to a cabinet. Can someone give me a clue as to what terms to search for in Google or a Yellow Pages category. I'm not planning on doing this bit myself!

Motorised blind off lighting circuit or ring main

I'm thinking of getting some motorised roller blinds that run either 240v AC or 24v DC (via transformer). Where should I source the power from, the lighting circuit, the ring main or somewhere else?

CLIPSAL intermediate switch to L1, L2 notation.

So one pair goes to the first L1 and L2 and the other pair goes to the other L1 and L2?

CLIPSAL intermediate switch to L1, L2 notation.

After a bit more digging, I know which two wires come up from the two way switch downstairs, in a normal L1, L1, L2, L2 situation, where would these go?

CLIPSAL intermediate switch to L1, L2 notation.

They are all singles and yes it's from the 60s / 70s, so I'm still no closer to a solution.

CLIPSAL intermediate switch to L1, L2 notation.

So the question was, what goes where?

CLIPSAL intermediate switch to L1, L2 notation.

The old switch terminals are arranged in a circle so they are top + left and bottom + right according to the diagram and they are just blue. the MEM switch has two L1s at the top and two L2s at the bottom.

CLIPSAL intermediate switch to L1, L2 notation.

I've got a CLIPSAL intermediate light switch with four blue wires in it. The terminals are not labled except for a small diagram saying 'To 2 way switch' on each pair, how does this relate to my new MEM switch which has L1, L1 on the top and L2, L2 on the bottom?

Four way lighting circuit and four terminal switch

I've had another look and there are two intermediate switches and MEM do them in their stainless steel range so I'm ok thanks.

Four way lighting circuit and four terminal switch

I've got a four way lighting circuit, three of the switches are standard Common + L1 + L2, the fourth has four terminals arranged in a square with a wire in each. Is this a special switch and can it be replaced with a standard one? If so, where do the wires go?

    Confirming light switch is earthed

I'm getting 50v AC between the earth on the socket and the metal backbox of the switch, if I remove the probe from the known earth (so just the one on the switch) I get around 15v AC so I guess it's not connected to anything.

    Confirming light switch is earthed

I've got a digital multimeter but can go and buy anything else I need. There's a socket on the ring main directly below the switch so are you saying probe the earth on that and the earth on the switch?

    Confirming light switch is earthed

I've got a light switch which is wired in 1.5mm T & E, but having traced the cables to the point them come down from the ceiling, the light switch appears to have been moved across the the wall by around 300mm and there is no earth in the original set of cables. The original cables are singles...

Wiring two lighting circuits in singles in conduits

I want to run a series of GU10 wall lights round the edge of my flat roof, something like this: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Images/Products/size_3/FL5501.JPG Half the lights will be 4W LED running dusk to dawn, the other half 50W halogen on a PIR or Timer. I'm going to use singles running...
