Silicone around a fireplace surround - which silicone is right for the job?

Hi all, painted over a dated marble fireplace surround (owatrol esp primer then 2 coats water based dulux trade diamond eggshell) When I took the masking tape off its left a bit of a messy edge where the fireplace meets the surround. I think only silicone can sort this and tidy it up...

Honeywell Optima Compact & Advent GSM Dialler

Thanks for both replies. The panel is indeed in the entry route (hallway), exactly why I dont want to be putting a seperate enclosure next to it as it would be too easy for undesirables to just rip it off if they spotted it. I will give it a go and try and fit it inside the panel and update if...

Leaking flat roof, repair or replace & rough cost...?

Thanks for your reply Vinn. £550 is for the complete job including materials and labour. For the downpipe, do you mean to direct it into the round hole in the ground? The downpipe does go directly into the ground at the moment, there is a hole the exact size of the circumference of the...

Leaking flat roof, repair or replace & rough cost...?

Quick update - I had a few quotes for pitched roof - all the roofers said it was fine to go over the existing roof while leaving it in place. One of the quotes fitted me in and the job has been completed today, I paid £550 which does seem cheap. Im am due to pay him tomorrow, any feedback on...

Leaking flat roof, repair or replace & rough cost...?

Thanks, I will look into EPDM - it does look a hell of a lot better than felt. Had a chap come out today to price it up, £280 for re-felting (didnt really ask him about what type of felt as I don't want it felted again). Or £550 for fitting a tiled pitched roof with guttering.

Leaking flat roof, repair or replace & rough cost...?

Hi all, Yesterdays storm caused the flat roof to leak in various places, I actually made a hole where it was dripping in the living room ceiling and loads of water poured out. Going to put a tarp sheet over it for now with some bricks to hopefully keep most of the water out. Only a few months...

new sheeting over old on garage roof

Thanks for that. I am trying to avoid removing the whole roof as it contains asbestos and so would be a messy and costly job. Hoping to do a middle of the road repair to make it last around 2/3 years as we are moving in around that time frame. How does this sound, brush off all the moss...

new sheeting over old on garage roof

Another thing I was thinking, would it be possible to felt over the old roof? Give it a good clean and then felt it, sticking down with felt adhesive and nailing with clout nails?

Roof verge work - cowboy job or ok?

Wow, doesn't sound good. I had a bad experience with a tiler recently and he was a member of the tile accociation. I phoned them up and asked them to mediate, I also asked them to check the standard of work from the pics and they agreed with me it was poor. The chap really didn't want them...
