    Sealing a soil pipe

Ok, I get you. Would plumbers putty work ? http://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/plumbing/everbuild_113_plumbers_putty_non_setting_750gr_plumb7_P26145.html?gclid=CNGw4Pifw7oCFRMftAodygsAaQ

    Sealing a soil pipe

As there are so many connectors I can't quite decide which one to get. In the meantime the dripping has got worse, even through the black gutter seal ! Surely black gutter sealant is designed to keep water tight.

    Satinwood Coming off

I was thinking of contacting the paint company because I still have the receipt. All said and done the paint shouldn't be this soft a month on.

    Satinwood Coming off

I will just keep touching up the bits as i go along. Someone suggested a coating of yaht varnish.i would have thought undercoat primer would have counted for something.

    Satinwood Coming off

I painted some wood panels that were dark stained. I was advised here to use satinwood. I not only used satinwood but sanded a little, painted with undercoat/primer all in one and 2 coats of satinwood from Bromborough Paints (professional trade paints) I have notice already marks on the panels...

Ok. Thanks, i will take your advice and just get a new one. The actual incoming connector from outside is lead ! Thoug the leak isnt coming from that to be fair.

    Sealing a soil pipe

Yes i was thinking of the actual connector but the one already fitted doesn't look damaged or even perished. Even with a new one don't you still have to seal them with something or is it the rubber on the connector that seals it ?

    Sealing a soil pipe

I have replaced the old rubbery sealant that connects the ceramic pipe from the toilet to the plastic soil pipe with normal bathroom, kitchen white sealant. This seems to let water through even though its water resistant. I then tried the black gutter sealant which dries much quicker and it...

    Replacing halogen bulbs with LED

Ok thanks. It was bought from Ikea I think. Makes sense to run a lower watt bulb. I will have to have a look at the bulb and see what kind it is.

    Replacing halogen bulbs with LED

I have a halogen 3 bulb kitchen light that never seems to last that long before a bulb goes with a bang and the fuse wire in the fuse box needing replacing. I have been told to go for an LED system which will save power and won't blow the fuse from time to time. Can I replace the halogen...

Old bathroom tiles replace or paint

We had a tiler in a while ago who said that it would be better off tiling over them rather than the mess of taking them off. What about those peel off mosaic tiles, are they a good compromise ? I like the idea of them.

Old bathroom tiles replace or paint

We have inherited old bathroom tiles that don't go with the new bathroom. Some have cracked and the grout looks grotty. I don't want to have to re-tile but if it is the only option we have no choice. I have tried (see my other post that got poor response) removing the patterns that are...

We have inherited old bathroom tiles that don't go with the new bathroom. I don't want to have to re-tile but if it is the only option we have no choice. I have tried (see my other post that got poor response) removing the patterns that are transfers with a glass scraper and nail varnish...

    Good 9.5 kw electric shower

I recently hired a local builder from this site. All excellent customer reviews, photos of his work with him on the photos. The work he did on our window frame because the bricks above were sagging and letting in water due to incompetent botch of previous house owner not putting the small rsj...

    Good 9.5 kw electric shower

There you go, typical facetious answer. I suppose you have shed loads of money to spend on the most luxurious mixer shower. Well I don't.

    Good 9.5 kw electric shower

I am not rude. I am grateful for advice of folk who are not lording it over you with condescending remarks. So rated tradesmen sites are not worth it? I told you, whatever you post here gets shot down in flames. As for the shower, I will get a Mira so thankyou for that. Much appreciated...

    Good 9.5 kw electric shower

So much for getting an answer to a question without facetious, snotty remarks from the ivory tower clique here. This guy is a registered electrician who I got via a rated tradesman website, do you really think he would carry out the work at the risk of losing his business if it were dodgey? It...
