Kitchen BQ units with Homebase kitchen doors

I mean where the holes are for hinges etc - they may vary between homebase and B&Q.

Reattaching curtain batten without removing it

One of my least favourite jobs! I always seem to end up 'finding' a steel with my drill bit - usually covered over with a chunk of plasterboard and a cavity...I've had to use polyester resin before (cheap one shot ones from lidl) to get a decent hold for a curtain pole.

Kitchen BQ units with Homebase kitchen doors

Fair point but it depends how well you trust your measuring skills IMO I'd still only buy one door & drawer to begin with even if the measurements seem to match up.

Kitchen BQ units with Homebase kitchen doors

I take it the carcasses are already in place? It may be obvious but buy one appropriate sized door and drawer front and give it a go from homebase - if it's too much hassle then you can reassess without having spent a load of money.

Please help - remove paint from bathtub

I'd speak to the paint manufacturer and the bath manufacturer - then see what options you have - nail polish remover can dull the gloss on acrylic so be careful. I suspect you're going to have to use something like a plastic/non scratch scouring pad to remove the paint then buff the acrylic...

Fish Tanks and Fish - Costs, Tips

Solid advice from Sonic007 I've kept coldwater, tropical and marine - I'd go for tropical if I had another tank. There's a joke about marine tanks - it's a large glass box that you endlessly pour money into! If you go for a kit setup then beware as often the filters supplied are rated 'up to'...

    Insulation in unused fireplace?

Hopefully someone can answer this: 1930's build house, we've got an unused fireplace in our lounge, it obviously had a gas fire in there at some point as there's an aluminium flex flu coming down into the fireplace and a register plate about a foot above the opening. We plan to line the...

    countersunk vs flat screw head

Thinking about it the last time I had an issue with curtain poles I ended up having to fill a void with fast cure polyester resin (repair after my son pulled out one bracket after swinging? on the curtain.)

    countersunk vs flat screw head

Ironically putting up curtain poles/tracks is one of my least favourite jobs to do around the house - I always seem to be boxed into a corner where you need to get above the window recess, can't go above the lintel, hit voids, old holes/screws etc etc...

Where to buy staves for making kitchen worktops?

Was about to suggest trying a bit of breakfast bar! If you go on YouTube and look at Matt Cremona's stuff he's got a couple of videos from a while back making end grain cutting boards from offcut staves - he's got a full workshop with static machines. One thing he does do not mentioned here...

Soundproofing a sliding glass door in a rental flat

If you can't hear it in the adjoining rooms (which I assume also face the pub could it maybe be that the noise is not loud but is causing the glass to resonate - as a test try getting a couple of heavyweight cushions and wedge them against the centre of each pane of glass to see if it makes a...

    CCTV signage?

    CCTV signage?

Yeah that's what I mean - If you're advertising you've got the cameras if someone does break in they're going to be forewarned...but as with a lot of things like locks etc it's more a case of making your house less of an appealing prospect than next door etc.

    CCTV signage?

OK so not strictly CCTV - talking more 'smart' cameras like Arlo, Blink, Ring etc. I've got some Arlo pro cameras inside the house, I'm not inclined to use any of the window stickers included with the cameras as obviously they'd advertise what system is in use but do you think it's a good idea...

Routing or partly cutting through a solid wood wall

Yeah it's what they call a 'twelve change of underwear' job! I think you need to get someone round to quote/advise - failing that start by describing in here what the overall project is to give context as to why the rebate is needed - then some of the folks in here may be able to suggest...

Routing or partly cutting through a solid wood wall

OK...assuming the post is not structural? If not then a circular saw capable of plunge cuts (or a plunge saw) plus a multi-tool or some decent chisels should do the job - obviously though if it's oak heartwood that's 100's of years old I would suggest avoiding the job if you can! Make two...

Sounds like it might be the gearbox - I replied to another post in here about the process of swapping out a gearbox recently.

    Parquet Floor Wood Identification

Wood talk online is probably the best place to ask but you'll need to get a good shot of the end grain, preferably cleaned up/planed.

    Aluminium Door Hinges

The doors still seem square as far as I can tell - there's a consistent gap at the top from side to side, I think I found the hinges - it seems like they clamp to the aluminium extrusion so I think they must have slipped down a bit!
