I have just bought a house constructed in 1905 which has a parquet wooden floor. Not sure if the floor is original but think it may be as a neighbouring property which is identical in design has the same type of floor. I have put in a new fire place with a smaller hearth so I need to obtain some additional tiles. Can anyone help me identify the type of wood that the tiles are made from? I think the tiles are soft wood and the underside is light in colour (similar to pine).
Apologies for the messy floor - the large tile is a ceramic sample as I am in two minds at the moment whether to keep the floor or change it out.
