Costs to fix a drain + scaffolding

I don't think that would go down very well wrt health and safety

Thanks, I didn't know either existed.

Costs to fix a drain + scaffolding

 It's rather high, I'd say 20m or so?

Costs to fix a drain + scaffolding

A drain in my mansion block has disconnected and needs to be put back together (picture attached). This results in a noisy leak. We'be been quoted scaffolding only costs of over £1000. Is this right? It's on the 3rd floor of a property. Access from the window might be possible, but I only...

Filling a screw hole in tile

Thanks for the suggestion and link. I think I'll go with the hook as I could use one there, and didn't even cross my mind.

Filling a screw hole in tile

Nice! (y) I might just do that actually.

Filling a screw hole in tile

I typically push the plug further into walls, but I am no expert so I thought I'd ask. The solution with the screw and cap is a good one, thanks. Can I get grout in the colour of my tile at all? I wonder if I don't get the right colour it will look off.

Filling a screw hole in tile

I want to move my shower's glass holder further, so that leaves the old hole in the tile, with a wall plug in it. How do I remove the wall plug, and how do I fill the tile with (beige) filler? Or, what filler do I use? Pictures attached.

    Wood joins problem

I would assume the floor can expand at all sides since there's room under the skirting board.

    Wood joins problem

I know.. he said that the floor clocks normally from one side, and when you go to the other side this happens. I still don't buy it, but he's paid and left now. I don't have door strips because the property has the same floor throughout.

    Wood joins problem

I put on engineered click floor, but the installer seems to me that he hasn't done a great job. He said that because he had to start from one side of the flat and go all the way, this resulted in what you can see in the pictures below: he had to fit the rest of the click floor "from the back...

    Wooden floor discolouration

That didn't work like at all. I would wear gloves anyway, it's just odd that some quite experienced guys don't, that's all.

    Wooden floor discolouration

Thanks for all that info. No I wasn't aware of any of that, and I certainly learned something today!(y) I'll try the oxalic acid straight away as I've seen a few videos on youtube of people cleaning wooden surfaces with it with great success. One thing I'm puzzled about though: is it caustic...

    Wooden floor discolouration

Thanks for the reply. We used plain baking soda (from sainsbury's) and plain white vinegar (sarsons distilled malt vinegar, transparent). We used it to remove a stain that had dripped about 3 inches from the oven onto the wood to avoid bleach or any other chemical. Seems that by rubbing the mop...

    Wooden floor discolouration

We used vinegar and baking soda solution, and now the floor has been discolored. Below are pictures of the normal floor (lighter) and the current situation. It's almost as dirt has gone in the pores. This might have happened by trying to remove a black spot from the floor, and then transferring...

Should I use caulk on these windows?

As the question states, and if yes, what kind of caulk? Does it matter if they're bathroom or room windows ? e.g. silicon-based or other

How to insulate old sash windows?

In my property the windows are old sash windows, I know I need to replace them. Until then though, I am looking for a short term patch. If I manage to get even 50% less cold coming in, it'll be a great benefit. This particular window is in my bathroom, and it's freezing cold, especially at...

    Gap in sound insulation ?

I think I'll go with the sound proof mastic sealant suggested here, as opposed to expansion foam that I was initially suggested, which I think would do more damage than good.

    Gap in sound insulation ?

    Still worth sealing it IMHO

    Gap in sound insulation ?

Agreed, but to be fair, we replaced the original carpet with no underlay, with strong underlay and engineered floor. I am aware of the airborne and impact noise topics, which I won't expand here, my original post is around airborne sound transmission around an air gap (as opposed to carpet with...
