Albeit sad I was watching the dishwasher during it's cycle. It was on a quick wash and one minutes said there was 18 mins remaining the next 1 min and it completed leaving water in the bottom. Is this normal could it be that the washed is not completing all of it's phases?

From experience the Virgin option is extremely demanding on the computer resources. As already mentioned the free AV products do a very good job AVAST or AVG would suit you.
