Wonder if anybody can help.
I have an two room which are slightly different heights i.e. 2cm. This was the result of extending the house the gap has been eliminated somewhat by the builder providing a slight cement ramp over a 15cm threshold but the new room has chipboard floor board which...
I laid oak flooring (20mm solid oak) in a conservatory approx. two years. I didn't glue the wood, but used lost head nails.
Although I left the wood in the conservatory for over two weeks to condition the wood has not stop expanding/moving. I now have some large gaps.
Save pulling the floor...
Could somebody be kind enough to tell me what Ladder Jacks are known as in the UK.
Also does anybody knows where to buy/hire them. They seem dirt cheap in the US, but hard to find here. :x
Thanks.
Andy,
Thanks for such a swift response. The circuit is fused. That was what concerned me. If somebody turns off the down stairs lights, they would be in for a shock when removing the light.
Hi,
I would like to install an external security light. I do not have a light feed parallel to the security light, but there is a socket.
Other than bad practice, is there any technical reason that I cannot take a light feed from the socket?
Thanks.
I have a cupboard door under the stairs (76x143) which needs updating. I would like a timber door with some shape.
Can anybody please point me in the right direction for manufactors of awkward shape doors or is this a joinery job?
I have an emulsioned plastered wall (not plasterboard) which I want to re-paper. Some of the paint appears secure, but in areas paint is flaking. I'd imagine when I wet the wall with paste and the weight of the wallpaper may make matters worse.
Therefore I've decided the paint some come off...
Chris,
Thanks very much for answering.
I have a Watermill 3bar pump (BP100D) serving two showers.
And yes, I do have mixer taps.
The pump does not automatically activate when running the taps.
Thanks, John.
I have purchased German basin/bath taps which have a much smaller aperture feed than equivalent UK taps.
Although there seems to be enough cold water pressure to produce a reasonable flow, the flow from the hot tap is very weak.
Somebody told me I should install a pump, but there don't seem...

They are not cheap, but effective.
Have you tried downloading freeware which gives you the first and last character, it may jog your memory.
I am replacing a basin and the waste is lead and buried in the wall. Is there any way to connect plastic to lead? I am not in the position to channel out the wall.
Thanks.
Wonder if somebody could offer some advice?
I need to get above a conservatory (standard height 4m wide) to replace the soffits and fascia boards on a two story house. What is the best thing to hire for safe working under the roof? Is it two towers with staging boards, powered platform or...
Thank you. The problem did appear to be pressures, once alleviated the boiler continues to run.
One other slight problem which could well be connected is that although the central heating is off, the CH pump continues to run. It is also getting very hot. I managed to physically turn off...
I have purchased a Grohtherm 1000 Mixer shower - The instructions are not the best!!!
It appear that the shower comes with two fittings, one to go through the wall or the other to fix straight onto the wall, with the pipes protruding underneath.
What I don't understand is how the mixer is...
I discounted a bathroom sink and radiator and since then the boiler ignites but goes out after about 20 seconds - I only have the Hot water system enabled. I have a feeling it may be to do with an air lock and pressure in the pipe, but how do I clear the air.
The other problem is that the...
Merry Christmas, very helpful!!!
I would have put the type and model on the original posting, but the boiler was in another location.
The boiler is made by a company called Stelrad, it appears to be model Ideal CF 460. Looks quite old.
Interesting thing is the boiler wouldn't ignite...
Our central heating system run continuously defeating the timer program.
We have replaced the timer and still the Gas continues and the burner ignites. The only way we can get the boiler to stop is by turning it off.
Could it be a Gas valve in the boiler which is malfunctioning??
