Valve types for showers... two hot water feeds

Hi! I'm having solar panels fitted soon and to make the most of the power during the day I'll be fitting a low power immersion heater and water tank in the loft. Having a combi boiler that means I'll have two forms of hot water supply. I'd like to have a "selector" valve wall mounted above...

Why is a small amount of warm water going to the radiator...

I have a combi boiler with the heating off but when I run some direct hot water a little hot water sometimes goes through to the first radiator (on the ground floor - directly below the boiler on the first floor) and leaves it a little warm at the top. Any ideas why? Cheers!

    50mm Pipe not 50mm

Hi! The old dear next door to me has a shed roof with 3" gutter and a drain pipe leading to her water butt. It's old and brittle and broke in the recent freezing. I went and got some 50mm downpipe but it's more like 55mm outside diameter. Hers is 50mm outside diameter. Would prefer to find...

    110v transformers

Okay... a lot of technical talk going on here which is a little too far over my head! I'm handy with a soldering iron and I can identify components if I open up my 3kVA transformer (1.5kVA continuous). Is there any simple method I could use to get around this if an SSR is not an option...

    Waterproofing brick silt trap

Just thought it might be a joke... sems a bit drastic to dig up part of driveway. Have since found a £10 EPDM pond liner at local garden centre and lined the man hole so it's fully tanked with no seams. Cheers.

    Waterproofing brick silt trap

Hi! I have a silt trap in the driveway which takes driveway rainwater run-off and rainwater from the garage roof. It is a brick man hole with red engineering brick and concrete base. However, it seems to lose water quite quickly so instead of flowing out of the outlet pipe it is dissipating...

Monobloc Basin Mixer Tap tightening problem!

They're from TC bathrooms. Spoke to them today and they said because it's a modern sink and a traditional style tap set then they might not be compatible. They said some of the modern mixers have a larger base. Problem is I've already plumbed in the bath with this style of tap and I've...

Monobloc Basin Mixer Tap tightening problem!

Hi Andy, I know the operation for installing it but the opening on the basin is about 36mm which means that the tap only just overlaps the edges of it. Are there any ways to get around this?
