    Wavey lawn edge cutting

Hello, recently laid a new lawn with wavey edging (not my idea), and its a pain to mow around. As you can see from the attached photos, the mower doesnt reach some of the edges, so left with long bits. What is the best/easiest tool to deal with this nicely? Thanks.

    Removing concrete path

Hi All, Have a horrible concrete path right through the garden currently, and looking to remove it. Wondering what tools are best to remove. It looks quite solid. Hand tools or power tools? This seems quite cheap to hire for the week. Is this a good plan...

    Tips for joining lamninate floor

Hello all, Previous done a room with laminate flooring, and now doing the adjoining hallway in exactly the same laminate. Here is the edge: -Its a straight edge that has been cut on the laminate. -That piece of laminate has the other edges covered by skirting boards/architraves etc, so it...

    Comprimised flat roof

Hi all, After yesterdays torrent of constant rain, seems like my old flat roof has given way and water has entered the house. Yesterday discovered a small damp patch near the bathroom ceiling on the external wall side: Dug a bit out to investigate, the plaster is about 1cm thick with brick...

    Wood worktop end

Hello @foxhole, what do you mean by decor panel. We have a laminated panel that would go between the cupboard and the worktop. I assume that is it? So I just have to get the straightest edge possible, and seal it with mitre seal silicone or something to stop any water ingress? Thanks :)

    Wood worktop end

Hello all, Just doing the last piece of wood worktop in the kitchen. This part butts up against a tall cupboard. how would you end the joint. Im thinking straight cut as possible with the circ saw, and maybe a bit of planing /sanding to flatten if needed. But how about the end join against the...

    Building new door frame

Thank you @JobAndKnock for the very comprehensive reply as ever. I'm interested to know why you would recommend expanding foam rather than mortar to fill up the gaps? I amk presuming that you are implying that there is no strength needed once the frame is screws to the wall with the...

    Building new door frame

Hi all, As part of my kitchen renovations, its getting a new door frame/liner. The old one was in awful condition plus a non stand door width. Im widening it to suitable for 762mm door width. Few questions. The wall seems an odd thickness (1930's house), at the top its 80, and further down its...

    Straight edge on laminated wood.

Excellent post thanks. My tools are still quite limited when it comes to joinery, but I was looking to invest in an electric planer, so I think that's the way to go. It turns out i need to take off probably 0.5-1mm so an electric planer wouldnt be such a bad idea. Do you think the electric...

    Straight edge on laminated wood.

Hi all. Just doing my kitchen at the moment and need to trim some filler foil wrapped laminted filler panels. This particular piece needs to be dead straight cut. I cut it will a jigsaw using a nice blade for a perfectly smooth cut, but its not too straight. What would be the best way/tool to...

    Kitchens: Howdens vs B&Q

Just thought i'd add my thoughts here. We went for a B&Q kitchen for several reasons: 1. Installing it myself so could get bits from the local B&Q as I went along. (Its taken several months) 2. Got a tradepoint card so 10% off. 3. Its really quite cheap. We went for the cheap IT kitchens Gloss...
