125mm inline fan with 100mm ducting

What, using 100mm ducting on a 125mm fan as opposed to 125mm ducting will be noisier, or an inline fan in general will be noisier than a standard extractor?

125mm inline fan with 100mm ducting

Bit of a ball ache replacing all the ducting and the 100mm outlet vent in wall. If we're looking at up to 40% reduction in performance then I'll have no choice. The fan is rated at around 350m³/hour airflow and theyre going in a bathroom and shower room, both approx 3m X 2m.

    Adjusting composite door

Hi Ken, There's one just above the handle/latch looks like a concrete screw. Can't remember if there's any more just below. I was wondering if perhaps the centre of the frame (where's it's catching) isn't fitted in far enough against the wall. Was considering cutting out the foam to have a look.

    Adjusting composite door

Hi Had a composite door fitted about 6 months ago, however it's a tight fit about halfway down and needs a good slam. Before I get the form out to have a look I wanted to try and sort myself. It's the right about halfway up on handle side. The hinges inside have an allen key adjuster at the top...

125mm inline fan with 100mm ducting

No, in a bathroom. Also, can the ceiling vent for it go above the bath?

125mm inline fan with 100mm ducting

Hi Will a 125mm inline fan suffer much of a reduction in performance if connected to 100mm ducting? Thanks

    Base for external oil boiler

Thanks. Yeah, wasn't expecting great performance running two showers at once, will see how it goes.

    Base for external oil boiler

Cheers. Got an electric shower in the ensuite and two regular showers in bathrooms, for that reason.

    Base for external oil boiler

Too late, all ordered by fitter :/ Had 3 quotes from 3 heating firms, all recommended a W-B greenstar heatslave 18/25.

    Base for external oil boiler

Thanks, I'll adjust the position. Boiler dimensions are 770x640, I'll make the base 800x800. The ground there is concrete already, but it slopes away from the house slightly, so I was going to lay a 50mm slab on it to level it. I'll do a 75mm slab though. Gone for an external combi to free up...

    Base for external oil boiler

Hi Are there any restrictions on the siting if an external oil (combi) boiler? I understand there are for the flue/outlet etc, but what about the unit itself? In the photo I've marked a space that is approx 400mm from house wall at the side. Boiler will be installed against kitchen extension...

    Interstitial condensation

https://www.permagard.co.uk/advice/installing-vcl-vapour-control-layer So, exterior of wall, interior of wall, internal insulation, vcl, plasterboard covering. The question is (was) with only 50mm of Rockwool internal wall insulation will interstitial condensation even be a problem, or will...

    Interstitial condensation

Vapour control layers, like the Tyvek airguard reflective I'm using. Are they not fitted to prevent warm moist air from the building passing through the wall & condensing on and within the wall itself (behind layers of plasterboard/insulation etc)?

    Interstitial condensation

What's the point of vcls then?
  15. C

    Interstitial condensation

The warm moist air in the house would pass through plasterboard & insulation and into the wall behind wouldn't it?

    Interstitial condensation

Hi I understand adding internal wall insulation increases the risk of interstitial condensation within the walls, however I've heard that it's only really an issue if adding a lot of insulation and adding less negates the risk, is this true? I'm planning on adding 50mm Rockwool to solid stone...

    Loose neutral

Yep, that's the plan, thanks. Regarding this green goo, does it affect the entire length of cable? Or just the section when it attaches to terminals?

    Loose neutral

Yep, got some isopropyl spray I was going to use. Perhaps cut off the sleeving on that section and replace with some heat shrink??

    Loose neutral

Oh ok, I thought the rule was only one spur off a ring main socket.

    Loose neutral

Just to confuse things.... Before I replace this socket, we were considering getting another socket added. This one I believe (will confirm before doing anything) is a spur from the ring main. I understand you can only spur once off a ring socket and you can't spur off a spur. There aren't...
