    Boiler doesn't stay on

Ok, I understand Tony. I managed to sort it. I was told to check the condensate trap as it can cause problems and send error codes similar to an air pressure switch. I did and it was full of grey grit. I cleared it out and it is now working fine. Cheers.

    Boiler doesn't stay on

Hi. Over the last few weeks my boiler has been shutting off (both with the CH and HW) and the lights have stated that there is a fault with the air pressure switch. A H/E friend has told me to buy a new switch and he fitted it for me this morning. He checked it after fitting it and it was...

    Paint colour different

No. The whole house hasn't been done that long ago. I'm confused, as the other paints are going on identical to the samples shown. The two from kingfisher are going on a different colour to the sample and also to what there coming out as on white paper. Seemed a bit weird asking me to try...

    Paint colour different

Hi. I've got a bit of an issue with the colour of masonry paint testers. I've bought some testers from Kingfisher building products. When I first went to buy paint from them, they said that they would prefer to send a laminated sample of the colours as they differ from the website. I was...

    Worktop join

Thanks gregers. Looks great. Much better than Colourfill, that's just gone brittle and is cracking out of the joint. I think the worktops to damaged to use this, I may have to use a bar. Cheers.

    Worktop join

I think so. The only thing that I can now do is, try and re-cut the edge and use a corner bar (which defeats the object of using him in the beginning). He is going to come over and check it, but I can tell that he's not really interested. Personally I think it needs completely renewing...

    Worktop join

Hi kbdiy. That is how the sink has been fitted. It doesn't run from front to back, it runs away from the sink. He said he didn't do a B&S join because he was limited by the amount of overhang on the other end of the worktop. I was told this by the other Carpenter. He could have used...

    Worktop join

Hi. I am trying to find out, what is the exact way to join worktops. I recently fitted a kitchen and used a square edge laminate worktop. I asked a Carpenter friend to do the joins for me and I've now got issues with it. He has basically router'd the male side and then butted it up to...

    Dishwasher blown fuse

    Cheers John. I'll try that.

    Dishwasher blown fuse

Thanks both. She has been out of the house for about 6 months, so it hasn't been used. She then used it for about 2 weeks when she moved back and it was fine, then it just stopped working. I replaced the fuse and there was a bang. I then tried something else in the socket and it worked fine...

    Dishwasher blown fuse

Hi. My mother in laws dishwasher has stopped working. Every time I replace the fuse and turn on the plug it blows. It is about 5 years old and she's not sure to repair or replace it. Is it worth calling someone out and repairing it or will it just be better to renew it. Thanks.

    Pop up bath waste

Im sure it is, but I'll check it. It does feel like it needs to move more. Cheers.

    Pop up bath waste

Hi. I have fitted a pop up bath waste, but there's a problem with how much the arm moves inside. If I adjust the screw, so that it seals properly, it doesn't open when I turn it and vice versa. Apart from changing it, is there a way of sorting this out. Thanks.

    2 problems

Thanks all for the advice. I'll try fixing a nut to the back of the lug. I turned the power off, connected the plate and then turned the power back on. You don't get any shock. It was still sparking when I touched the back box with the face plate, but it was instant, it didn't keep...

    2 problems

Hi. I have 2 issues that I would like some help with. I am changing a 2 gang socket and I am getting a slight shock when trying to screw it back. If I touch the metal back box with the metal socket I can see a small spark. Does the socket need changing or is it something else. The...

    Laminate floor

Hi. I am thinking of using laminate floor in a kitchen and bathroom. I have never thought of this before, but was speaking with someone in Howdens and they said that they sell some sort of sealant that you use after installation. You still have to use laminate specifically for kitchens...

    American fridge freezer

Hi. I have a Samsung american F/F, but the water bottle behind the bottom two containers in the fridge is leaking. I've had it a long time and will be renewing it in a few months. Rather than wasting around £50 on a new one, I was planning to just cut the two pipes and connect them...

    Corner units

Yes, they are the units pinenot. I've put handles on both doors for the base units and they're fine. I've kept the handles off the one door on the wall units and it works, it just looks a bit weird. Thanks all for your advice.

    Corner units

Hi foxhole. They are wall and floor units. It is B&Q's IT range. I fitted one a couple of years ago and they had fixed corner posts, whereas now they are connected to the doors. Is it right that all doors with the post fixed do not have a handle (both floor and wall units)? Thanks.

    Corner units

Hi. I've just fitted the doors and handles to 1 of 4 corner units and the door is hitting the opposite door handle. I did the exact same thing on a previous kitchen, but they have now changed the design. Instead of it being a fixed corner post, it is now fitted to the door and it's not as...
