    MY EON meter

I just had a closer look. The meter display is cycling between EXPRT 000000 BILL £2.13 IMPRT 001385. Looking at my last bill, the last number could be my present meter reading, with the usage in-between. The mystery unfolds....

    MY EON meter

I've not touched anything on the meter and anyway that shouldn't affect the smart meter sending readings to Avro, surely? That's what triggered this question. Today I had a bill from Avro, for Gas only. It said there was a problem with the electricity readings. The smart meter is flashing all...

So the accepted answer would be No, just not going to happen. Industrial users would be cut first.

    Natural gas shortages this winter

I have a simple question, could gas supplies be cut off to domestic users, due to an actual shortage of the stuff? I've thought about it but don't understand the technicalities of shutting off gas supplies to domestic users. I'm thinking that it would be a dangerous action that could mean...

Does anyone know where I can get the cardboard tubes the USA uses for making foundation piles? Making a base for a shed and don't want to lay a full concrete base.

    DIY shed

Timber being the price it at the moment, I am thinking to dismantle an old 'log cabin' and reconstruct it in as a stud wall constructed shed. Then clad that in fence boarding or larch boarding. I'm not sure I will have enough lengths to make the shed with 400mm centres. Can I use 600mm centres...

DIY Shed - things to consider...

I have an old wood cabin, that I am thinking to repurpose into a shed. I support it on these...https://www.wickes.co.uk/Jouplast-Plastic-Adjustable-Decking-Risers---50-to-80mm---Pack-of-10/p/149406 They are actually rated for 500kg per riser, so a dozen is well within their rating.

    Dowel or plug?

I have a dining table where the table top has become stained and sanding hasn't cured this problem. So one solution would be to turn the top over and use the underside. But the pedestal was screwed to the underside, leaving several screw holes. The top is solid elm and there are no plugs or...

    MDF repair

Into the face or rather the rear face of the door. I think the new screw holes will just miss the dowels. I've seen on eBay 3mm hardwood dowels, they would fill the screw hole nicely, once drilled out. Next problem is the template, which has gone missing. Have to call Bosch on Monday. Cannot...

    MDF repair

I have an MDF kitchen door for a dishwasher front, but I mis-aligned some of the screw holes. Is there a way to somehow drill out the screw hole and fill it with dowel or something so that a new screw close by will hold?
